I would love to see that happen. I guess the problem is that the one thing a coach can’t do is quit on the players. It probably would not help his career.

Theoretically, he should walk and call out all the guys who consistently underperform. I guess burning bridges is never a good idea though, unfortunately.

Anyone else kind of hoping that they just continue to be so bad that they decide to sell at the deadline and rebuild.

If there was any decent offer for Matthews at this point, I would take it. Rielly, Tanev, OEL, Carlo might all fetch a decent pick at the deadline. You could even take back short term salary. I would even consider trading Nylander.

I don’t believe their highest paid players are ever going to become guys who care enough to win.
