With Hawks needing to get to the salary floor next season and having a $30 million gap to do so, there’s been rumors of bringing in a big vet with a large cap hit like trading for Stamkos to help bridge said gap. Stamkos has a $8 mil cap hit for two more seasons. Problem is his production has fallen off since joining the Preds however there is another horse in the race the Hawks may be inclined to bringing in on a short two year deal without trading assets: Artemi Panarin.

Breadman is still a ppg player and could play top line with Bedard and Burakovsky or 2nd line with lil Frankie and Turbo while Bert bumps back up to 98’s line. Panarin adds a scoring threat this roster really needs for both 5v5 and PP.

I don’t see any forwards in Rockford this year that’ll make the jump next season. Not even Lardis. Maybe Frondell but he’s currently playing 3rd line in Sweden so yikes. Vanacker, Spellacy, Kantserov, and possibly Pridham will be added to Hogs roster but will need at least a full season in Rockford before they’re potentially viable options. Seems to be a 2 year gap before a wave of legit prospects are ready to push for NHL spots so a 2 year deal for someone like Panarin would make a lot of sense plus re-signing Mik or Dickinson.

By point per game %, Tankathon has the Hawks out of the playoff picture. CHI with the 11th pick and Florida with the 12th.

Package them and move up to top 5?

Articles out there on Chicago moving Crevier. If we do we won’t just give him away. I think Murphy is more likely to be moved. I wonder how many scouts are watching Rockford games?

Guy on Twatter that spun that web has Crevier for Jarnkrok (34 year old nobody) lol. Also thought Hawks were running 11-7 to “showcase” Crevier. Roll eyes emoji. I would do Crevier for Dakota Joshua though and opens up some space for Leafs but more likely Kyle would center the trade around Crevier for Robertson in some fashion, if it actually happened. Trading with Islanders and their large stockpile of young forwards would be to my druthers.

Are the Blackhawks recalling anyone from Rockford to replace Foligno?

It really doesn’t seem like it. Find out at morning skate but seems like they’re hoping Dickinson and/or Bert will be able to go. I don’t understand the harm in calling up Toninato so everyone gets healthy but I’m not in the room.

Mikheylev for a 2nd round draft pick

Actually, it was even better than that! Hawks got Mik, Laffy, AND a 2nd rounder for a 4th rounder. Excited to see where the Florida and NYI picks end up being at the end of the season. Last year with the Jones trade, I assumed the Florida pick would 100% be #28-32 range but now…

Great game by Sod’s. That was one hell of a save.

If Soda can play like that once every 4-5 games in relief of Knight, Hawks would have one helluva tandem in the crease. Not many teams boast a solid backup goalie and that does not get talked about enough. And Nazar out, no problem! Should be a great litmus test on Wed versus another up-and-coming team that also has a lot of youth, talent, and speed.

the Hawks were firing on all cylinders in the 2nd

Happy to see them get past their 2nd period woes. Can anyone believe they just scored 14 goals in the back end of a 6 game roadtrip? Speed, work ethic, and compete every single game.

So, I stream CHSN because I refuse to be taken advantage of by Comcast. There are about four minutes left in the game, and all of a sudden, the feed shuts down, and they post that the Hawks won 5-2. It was 4-1 when the feed shut down. WTF? I was able to backtrack the time to see Bedard score the empty net goal. How about Knight and Bertuzzi? My top two stars of the game. Their defense was nothing to write home about and they gave up a lot of SOG’s, but it was fun to watch.

Happens in NFL games too and has for years. For whatever reason, watching games on Fubo or Sunday Ticket are less of a delay than national tv and regional outlets. My son put the Bears game on via Hulu on our local CBS affiliate and I was getting updates on my phone before the Bears scored on tv and knew to switch it over to Sunday Ticket channel and sure enough I was getting the updates the same time as I saw it live on tv.

Meanwhile, you could reward and test other young D-men to see how their game is progressing (or not).
Who else would you send down to give KK, EDM and Allan some NHL work?

I would love to see them bring up EDM. I think he’s learned all he can in the AHL with 126 game feathers in his cap and would learn more at the NHL level at this point. I thought he had a solid camp but his preseason games were a bit meh overall. That could also be attributed to the new systems but seems to be doing well in Rockford. Team could definitely use his sandpaper as well.

Slaggert needed to go down as soon as he came back from his injury. I like Slaggert, and maybe there will eventually be a spot for him, but man there’s a lot of talent coming.

Seems like Tab at BN has a soft spot for Slaggs and keeps defending him to no end. Gushes about all the talent coming up but still somehow thinks there will 100% be a spot for Slaggs because “he’s solid on PK”. I’m sorry but he leaves a lot to be desired in almost every other category and feel he’s only where he is now due to how horrible the organization has been lately.

What a great opportunity for Moore. He has the tools to stick, we’ll see if he is ready to make it day in and day out.

Agreed and Moore adds even more speed to an already speedy group.

I also really like how they are fighting constantly throughout the game to get on the right side of the puck, the little things repeated over and over and over again.

Completely agree. Every player plays with a strong work ethic and makes it as hard as possible to play against on the opposing team. They get after every puck and tag team on the board battles. Fun team to watch and love the grinder mentality.

Rinzel deserves so much credit too as a guy in his first real season playing the role he does on the top pair. Vlasic and Rinzel have been facing the other team’s top players (the numbers strongly back this up) and they’ve been a generally solid pair. They might become a pair that teams around the league hate to go up against.

Agreed but Rinzel has been getting beat up lately and no one came to his aid last night in the 1st with that late hit behind the net. He’s already sporting a black eye as well. At what point does Kyle go out and bring someone in to protect his investments? Bring up EDM? And once they go to 12-6 again, they won’t be able to shield mins for Arty and our newest “3-wheeled shopping cart” Murphy.

Anyone watching the Hogs vs Wolves right now? 6-1 Hogs and Lardis on hat trick watch. Just had 5 misconducts handed out (3 Wolves, 2 Hogs). Newly drafted Russian Ryabkin seems to have a short fuse. He has 28 PIM in 5 games but 14 PIM in the first game of the season vs Iowa and 12 PIM today. Welcome to North American hockey!
