It’s nice to see Lardis playing defense in the A. What a shot. As i always say great defense leads to good offense.
So 27 points in 25 games, last year they got their 27-28th point in their 39th game.
I know I’ve had some push back about baseball and hockey being similar in that they draft kids who are 18 and usually it takes 5 to 6 years when they do the gut rehab, like Boston, Cubs and other baseball teams decided to start over with their rebuilds.
The Cubs the year before last, year 4, showed flashes of being a good team, this year made the playoffs. Its amazing to me how the Blackhawks are showing those same signs in year 4. Go on a game points steak now they went on a losing streak, a game last year being down 3-0 the game was over, not this year.
And year 4 is important in getting the right coach and i really like Blashill, he backs his players up, calls out the refs and you know he’s being direct with the players behind closed doors, coaching matters
Now we just need these kids to get experience and get mean.
When all said and done they might have one top 5 anyways, besides like me odds if i get 2 in the 1st round especially top 10.
I think Nazar isn’t 100%, the last few games he has not played with the same want as he has in the beginning of the season.
Bert has got to be way more physical defensively in his own end, and that 3rd goal a lot on Donato for not wanting to get checked along the boards, this team right now is not playing NHL hockey the right way.
If you don’t honor the NHL with taking a hit to make a play, you pay for it in losses.
Rinzel using more and more physicality which is fantastic, Arty, Kaiser, even Vlasic lately are not.
This team has got speed and talent, now they have to get mean and nasty, requirement to play in the NHL, is why Reichel will always struggle.
Yea Soda has been terrible for 2 of the goals against but Donato not taking a hit to make a play on the 3rd goal against was weak, and that 2nd goal against, Bert. Nazar and teuvo were all allergic to contact in those 2 minutes,
Like i said they need to embrace the whatever cost it takes to make a play, that 2nd period was no where close to it
Just like the wild the Blackhawks are outskating the preds everywhere, could of called 3 more penalties because they are so slow
Next big step for these kids is to become mean bastards between whistles.
On a previous blog we went without someone covering the Blackhawks for quite a while so I appreciate all the write ups Frenchy.
I know they are young so they have to learn some things, i don’t know when it’ll happen but once the kids feel comfortable in the league then the edge will come. See it with Connor already, unfortunately this is a necessary evil in the NHL but for now i love how fast they are playing and competing.
You know Frenchy this is good medicine for the Blackhawks. I was so upset with the non call than the unsportsmanlike conduct call on 98 it turned me off of hockey for the rest of the week. There’s no doubt this team is very good watching them on the ice.
If the Blackhawks have to earn the respect of the refs, whatever that means, so be it, stepping away i realized if they are going to make this team stronger for the upcoming draft, i can live with that.
It’s also a good lesson for the kids, can’t leave it to chance, they’ve got battle through all the things the wild were doing to them in the 2nd and 3rd period even if the arm doesn’t go up.
It’s nice not to be completely out of the playoff picture by this time of the year, thankful for the product on the ice its so much better than last year.
Long season but i can see them being high 70s to mid 80 point team. That would be a very nice improvement for this organization.
That’s alright, after what i saw against the Avs and tonight this is a very very good budding team. Keeps us inline for a lottery pick this upcoming draft.

This team has got to learn how to finish a period, i think that’s 5 or 6 goals this season they have given up with less than 1 minute left in the period
