ParticipantIf Petterson produced like he did 3 to 4 years ago, sure. The past 2 years, no thanks.
It sucks that Bedard got hurt but at the same time the Blackhawks last year were 5-7-1 when he missed the month last year.
It’s a team sport, is our defense better I think so.
Is our forwards group better, i think so
Goalies better, i think so
It’ll be interesting but i believe this team will be better than they were last year.

ParticipantJust found out the contract is an $85 million dollars signing bonus??? So we’ll see if the Ducks are still a poverty franchise? I guess he would get paid the other $5 million over the next 5 seasons.
Blackhawks would be able to afford that, but i have to imagine the blue jackets are growing concerned….
That’s crazy though

ParticipantGlad those flyers wanted Karlsson instead of Bedard. Funny how all these reporters were saying it was the Blackhawks who had to worry about this.
I can hear Verbeek right now going crazy, hahaha

ParticipantApparently Boisvert has bulked up to 205 lbs already? Hopefully his skating has stayed the same and his shoulder feels a 100% this season.

ParticipantI don’t know what to think about Bowen Byram signing. I do know the Blackhawks seem to do their due diligence on players, so I’m going to hope like hell they are correct on him and that he’s not done growing defensively as a hockey player.
I might of been disappointed in what we gave up for him and how much we signed him for but i would of been way more disappointed if we did what the Sharks did, Nurse and Trouba for 4 years? Yikes
As i sit back and rationally look at all the moves made this off season, I can honestly say KD traded for the best available defenseman hands down. Did he give up a lot in a trade and capital absolutely, did he just reset the market for dmen absolutely.
Besides he gets him for half off this season and technically he’ll only count 11% against the cap when his contract does finally kick in.
Can’t wait to see what Makar and Hughes signs for, hahaha.

ParticipantOne thing is certain though, KD had set up this franchise nicely, plenty of cap space, plenty of draft capital and now plethora of young bodies in the system.
Marchenko would be my target, but then again the same thing will happen next year and the following year and so on and so on.

ParticipantThe price for Byram was so high, i can’t believe so many outlets are crying for this franchise to trade for Robertson or Marchenko to help Bedard.
Do these so called experts realize Bedard was a over a point per game player and who did we lose, Foligno, Ilya, Dickinson, Burakovsky (good riddance) Dach??
Every season Bedard has been the catalyst to his line, Frondell, Kantserov, Nazar, Bertuzzi, Teuvo actually resemble a top 6 forward group.
Moore, Lardis and Greene will form a nice 3rd line
Donato, Greenway and Boisvert as the 4th line
Slaggert and Magpie
Sure some unknowns but this forward group is shaping up nicely

ParticipantJarmo said we tried to trade the 4th OA pick for a NHL ready player, no takers, so maybe KD was onto something about this draft and how the value dropped after the top 2 picks
