That is probably Hart’s next move: spending a season in Switzerland or Germany.

I think the NHLPA will force the NHL’s hand in allowing these kids to get back to work. There’s no legal precedent to keep them out of the league.

The NHL clearly doesn’t want any of the players back in the league no matter what. He’s the thing: If the league ties this thing up for half the season — by then, none of the players have played in two years — by the time any of them would be game ready, what team would sign them even if you take PR out of the equation?

Note — Ryan’s blog about the Penguins broadcasts and the Athletic article was accidentally posted with no category tags. I reposted it to the front page and added the correct tags. My apologies. It’s a fun read, in my opinion.

Bill where you see Andrae fitting in when all is said and done come opening night?

Any possible PTO invites to camp? If so any names?

Good question. The Flyers say he’ll get a chance to crack the opening night lineup. But they also say they want to get bigger on the blueline. Since York and Drysdale aren’t going anywhere, I don’t know how Andrae fits in.

When will the Finland and Canada rosters be announced?

Finland announced theirs a few days ago. For some reason, Hockey Canada is waiting until the day before the tourney to announce Canada Red and Canada White rosters.

To me, Bump earning a spot means standing out in practices/scrimmages, get scoring chances in the preseason and showing he can handle the off-puck stuff (albeit against preseason opposition) while playing at the NHL pace. He struggled against Hershey in the second round of the playoffs. If the preseason is similar, I’d expect him to start the year in Lehigh Valley. If he’s generating scoring chances (I care less about goals themselves right now) and consistently around the puck, I’d expect him on the opening night roster.

From all of the interviews, he seems like a grounded personality who is open to doing the best thing for him. No need to worry about this at all and super excited for him to get to play against better competition in a really good program. I’m sure this is just a pit-stop for him. Also gives us a chance to let Jett get his shot at making the team.

Not seeing how not having martone effects the Jett.

I don’t think Martone affects Luchanko. Bump, absolutely.

Why do media types everywhere inVsist on trying to will a Crosby trade into existence? He’s said repeatedly he wants to finish as a Penguin.

Very first paragraph of Mike’s article: “Let’s start with this disclaimer. Sidney Crosby probably won’t be traded. He has a no-trade clause with one year left on his contract, and if he leaves the Pittsburgh Penguins, it’s his own doing. A trade will only happen if he wants one.”

As for Crosby or any other player he wants to finish his career with a certain team, it’s true until proven otherwise. Example: Mike Modano was a Star for life, until he went back home to finish out as a Red Wing. Giroux was a Flyer for life until there was no extension his final contracted year… then he was a Panther (and then Sen as a UFA).

But in Crosby’s case, he probably will be one who does play for just one team.

It’s confirmed. He is playing college hockey in 2025-26
