Hey its nice to see other teams have to deal with 21yo getting massive contracts to muddy up the contending window.

just did a quick scan of some of the best players contracts, and someone like Nate Mackinnon is 30 and still has 5 years left on his 12.6
if he signed a 4 or 5 year deal instead and would be a UFA now or next season, he would get 20mil x 7 in sure or something like that.
makes me curious what 33yo UFA Kucherov gets

yup. I was going say something of the sorts but did not.
So Matthews next contract will be 20M over 5 yrs. Well maybe not 20M cap hit but it will be up there now.

so the Ducks matched the offere sheet to Carlsson.
Gauthier, gonna want most likely the same type of contract
and there goes Anaheim cap space

just because the a coach doesn’t have NHL experience doesn’t mean he’s not qualified to coach in the NHL.

Alfredsson as an assistant coach. That’s a fucking joke. I know Sundin is Swedish butt buddies with Alfredsson but that’s sacrilege to hire that guy. Sundin should know better.

Mike Van Ryn and Derek Lalonde will not be returning for the 2026-27 season.
There was no talk about the great PP coach (he he) Sullivan if he will return or not. Most likely not with John Gruden, Daniel Alfredsson and Brad Werenka being added to the coaching staff.

A 2nd round pick is not a bad price but 4.775 AAV is a waste of money for 10 goals and 25 points. It also means his QO for next year will be over 5 million. If he has a shit season, you either qualify him to a gross overpayment or you lose him for nothing. The Leafs could potentially get a better player for a lower cap hit for a 2nd round pick and nearly 5 million in cap space in the UFA market. Hayton isn’t that good. The Leafs entire bottom-six is filled with guys who score 10 or less goals getting paid double what they’re worth. The only benefit would be that Hayton is at least young but overall, he’s been a bust for a top 5 pick that of course Chayka made the mistake of drafting that high.

he also had in the previous two season 19 and 20 goals and 42 and 45 pts.
4.775 AAV is the upper limit for compensation and it’s for 1 year and then, he’s a UFA. If Utah matches, they cannot trade him for a year.
It’s a little on the high side but not by much. Teams need to be above the cap floor after all.

Barrett Hayton offer sheet (4.775M 1 year deal) by NJD has been signed.
No one is really talking about this one.
compensation would be a 2nd rnd pck from NJD.

I was hoping the Leafs would go after him.
