Leafs ship Reaves to Sharks, acquire Thrun

    nice ????

Like – none of us know Thrun from a hole in the wall, I don’t think – but he has represented the US in the U17, U18, U20 (WJC) and the World Championship. He’s 6’2 / 190, so maybe a little sleight of build, but at 24 he’s better than just getting a contract dump which is what I would have expected.

and no Leafs draft picks going with him ????????

Lol what a pathetic thing to think is a snappy comeback, ya you really nailed me.

    JFC are you ever pathetic.

A “snappy comeback” is lost on you. It’s unnecessary. You are what you are: a sheep.

curious to know ?? – honestly, a sheep to what?

He left on his own accord. No one ran him out of town. Stop telling false hood

Wrong. Team refused to pay him what he’s worth, media (that owns the team) ran with a bullshit narrative and the fans ran him out of town.

The only falsehood here is the idea that this team is or will be better without him.

between you and me, that is nonsense and falsehoods as it was already reported that he turned down ALL Leafs offers and good one too.
we shall see if the team is better or not this upcoming season.
should give them a chance before writing them off before the puck has even dropped on the new season.
who knows, maybe there is a major trade in the works that we don’t know about or contract(s) being bought out.

Exchange rate is a non-issue. Nobody spends $5M per year on groceries and the cost of most goods is increased in Canada to reflect the weaker dollar. A Rover ain’t cheaper in Canada. If it’s 100k in USD it’ll be $140k CAD. So USD for athletes living here doesn’t translate into cheaper living. Money, Winning, Lifestyle.

You nailed it. Weather is probably a factor too and most of the no income tax states have way better weather than Toronto too.

When a franchise like Toronto runs it’s own home town guys out of town, they truly have no hope of building a competitive team. They’ll get the guys like Tavares, who people will love, but win nothing.

He left on his own accord. No one ran him out of town.

Its july 9th time to panic

Yes, you’re right, all those superstar 100 point free agents are just lining up to sign with the Leafs on July 9th.

That’s because they were none except Marner but he had one foot out the door already last years.

And if that doesn’t work, they got a lot of elite prospects and 1st round picks ready to dominate the league or to trade for more help.

The Florida Panthers are absolutely fucked and shaking in their boots thinking about the revenge of the Leafs.

    Only in your eyes.
A True Leafs Fan does NOT crap all over the Leafs like you do.

man, there is some sour grape in here.

Mitch is a good player and did the same thing Sundin did when he left. -Did not allow the team to trade him for assets at the trade deadline.
Yeah, both players had NTC or NMC in their contracts but still they could of waived it.

Too much tax talk, but also much better than usual in here! <thumbsup>

How ’bout a serious discussion on the two/three elements left for the Leafs to crush it next season:

    Knies, Matthews, ??Roslovic?? (Domi)
    ?Marcelli? Robertson?, Tavares, Nylander
    McMann, Roy, Marcelli/Domi/Roslovic?
    Lorentz, Laughton, Pezz

    McCabe, Tanev
    Rielly, Carlo
    Benoit, OEL
    Myers

    Stolarz
    Woll

    1RW = ? (Domi IMO)
    2LW = ?

    3/4LD = ?

I kinda believe if Leafs can dump Rielly and upgrade that LD position, the Leafs’ D is solid as fuck. Better than it’s been in a long, long, time. (If Rielly stays it will still survive, the D was the least of our problems last season). So who is a skull crushing LD the Leafs could trade for???

I think the forward group is only a 2LW away from solid but you could make the argument for a 1RW, P Kane would’ve been so good there…Domi or Marccelli(sp?) can fill that role well enough…I’m feeling Domi will do really well there. So who is the 2LW???

    Is Pezz the 13th forward?
is there a market for these two: Kampf and Jornkrok what a realistic trade proposal?

So whats next for the leafs?

Maybe a mid range bottom 6 player? Roslovic, Olofsson? maybe 1 to 2 year deals?

I read the Leafs may have a hand shake deal in place with Roslovic. The Leafs would like to move a body or two before bring him in to the team.
Don’t forget they have Robertson as well to deal with.

Let’s revisit this come mid September. At least they kick some Yankee butts a series ago.

    No chance that happens.

Kadri and Andersson are huge pieces of value to their team. They would expect a way bigger return.

Also, no chance Rielly is waiving to go to Calgary. Vancouver or Seattle, maybe. Not Calgary.

Why Not? I think it’s just as close as Seattle is. You know something, you are forgetting about Tessa. Does she really what to live
in those two cities? I think Calgary is just as appealing as the other two you mentioned.

I would need a hell of a Leafs offer to pry those two out of Calgary.
I know my offer above is crap.

Kadri + Andersson for Rielly + Carlo + some sweetner

    Then get rid of Reaves/Kampf

No to Carlo being moved. It would need to someone else like the right to Niemela or possibly Danforth.
You keep Reaves and you pass him through waivers. He gets claimed, –ok, if not, he’ll only cost the Leafs under $250k toward the cap.
    Kampf, Jornkrok can be moved.
Robertson is going to arbitrations so he’ll cost imo under $2M on 1 year contract, so the Leafs will about 3M left to play with as is.

I really do like the idea of getting those 2 players from Calgary.

Kadri + Andersson for Rielly + Niemela or Rifai or Prokop + Kampf + a 2nd rnd pick in 2028

Considering he got offered $919K I wonder how much more he wants? Sure he got 15 goals but only 22 points and it’s not like he’s physically notable.

I just read a blurb on him and he’s projected to get 1.38M cap hit for 2 years.
