The math could work. Kane and Tavares do 1 yr deals. Leafs have a bunch of room next summer. If Bennett stays in Florida ….maybe it’s Duchene or Nelson.

Duchene will stay in Dallas IMO and Nelson is on the wrong side of time, again imo.
Ehlers and Bennett will be around 8M each to sign me thinks. Could be do able.

Well this will be an up hill battle for the Leafs to move Rielly with his NMC. He controls his destiny.
If this year UFA were better, then the bottom-6 could be rejigged but there isn’t much out there this year.

I saw a trade proposal between the Leaf and Vegas
Leafs get Karlsson for David Kampf, 2027 second-round pick, 2025 third-round pick (Colorado).
Then Vegas could take a run at signing Marner as I don’t think Marner will resign with the Leafs.

This would leave the Leafs with hardly any draft picks for a few years.

Read a yahoo sports article today saying Jonathan Marchessault is willing to waive his no trade to be moved. He’s got 4 more years at 5.5M per and is 34 and will be 35 come December (he’s 3 months younger than JT).

Is he a possibly 1st/2nd line RW replacement for Marner (L2 if Willy moves to L1)?

Wonder what it would cost to get him out of Nashville?

This may also help set the bar for a JT re-up but cheaper on a home town discout.
