Nylander, Matthews, Tavares, Marchenko and McKenna were the correct shooters. They just didn’t execute.

Manage your expectations about Bob. He’s coming off a terrible season and 38 years old. He is a professional, dedicated in the gym but the reality is, you can not bring in a new goalie on the final chapter of his career and expect him to stand on his head every night. Florida knew how to defend when he was at his peak. The Leafs are playing with the silly expectation that “Bob will always save us” which is wrong and will lead to the same results he had last season.
The Leafs have only had success this season when they’re attacking. If the Leafs aren’t controlling the play on the front foot, they get caved in.
The Leafs defensive gaps are horrendous as O-Dog is pointing out right now. They give up the blueline so easily and it causes clean shots on net, causes them to take penalties and give up way better chances than necessary. The slow ass D is old and worried about getting beat by speed. The panel is 100% bang on.
Oh hell, I don’t blame Bob whatsoever, the backend is sloppy and that’s describing it nicely.
I won’t pretend to have a solution either, because I don’t. Can’t wait til Rielly is gone I guess? But will that magically correct the backend? lol no.
Even if he pulls off a win this is not a pleasant start to the season for Sergei.
