They might as well go out and get the best deal for Knies. I’m sure he feels slighted and now won’t trust the management. A quiet auction should occur and if something significant appears, make the trade. I’d like to keep him, but he’ll be off somewhere else, once his contract is over. The Leafs are in no position to compete for a Cup anyways, so just go after draft capital. 2 firsts and prospect should suffice.

Let me remind you what I personally always said about Marner, even going back to his days as a Knight.
He’s super fucking talented.
His playmaking and defence is stellar, not a bad skater, not stellar, but not bad, all over the place because he can see the open ice beautifully, his shot is average but meh, who cares? It’s still a NHL shot.
What I hate about him is his lack of physical skill and his crybaby nonsense. It’s all I’ve ever said and it’s all I’ll ever say.
Either way. He hasp later as a leaf for well over a year so get the fuck over him. Even the guy that let him go is no longer the GM. I think the vast majority of Leaf fans want to move on and would like nothing better than to not talk about Marner actually.
Most of what you are classifying as whining, bitching and moaning is them responding to the constant media talking about Toronto and Marner. Should they just not reply – sure but I assume it’s hard to read and hear it non-stop and not respond.

Vegas may very well win the cup and Marner very well may win the Conn Smythe but neither of those things will erase the 9 years of Marner in Toronto nor the way he left Toronto.
