There may be some truth to this. Can you imagine where this team could have been if they hadn’t squandered assets to Boston, like Fraser Minton and a first, and to Philadelphia for a first and other assets? Such stupidity during the Treliving/Berube years. So far, Chayka and Sundin have been spot on. The way they’re handling McKenna is almost perfect. By spotting him on the third line and using him on the power play, they’re giving him opportunities to showcase his skill. McKenna definitely needs some physical growth and looks like a teenager out there, which he really is. By the second half of the season, you’ll see a different, more polished player. This is a great opportunity for a young star player to grow into a consummate superstar. The Leafs are doing for McKenna what Chicago should have done for Connor Bedard.
Agree wholeheartedly. He can show off his skill on the PP but let him develop into an all around player during 5 on 5 hockey. I’m also against breaking up the other 3 lines right now anyways since they’re working so nicely. Will they all season long? Not likely no, but don’t break them up til they deserve to be either. Sincerely hoping JT becomes nothing more than the 3rd line C if those lines are still ticking once he’s back.
So, JT and Tanev hurt at the same time and the Leafs are looking at their best?
