Participantpure entertainment.
Right, you gotta love it.
2nd Round Flyers picks: 36th (4th pick), 40th (8th) and 48th (16th).
Today is the day you take a big swing on a player like Ryabkin.

Participantwhy are the talking points about a player the flyers draft rarely about his talent and skill? oh he is big, he is strong, and the like.
another big guy with skating issues.
do lobe the typical flyers cliché from “jonesy”: “he looks like a flyer”. what does that mean? he is a loser?
This specifically really annoys me nowadays. Who is their target audience for this kind of stuff? “Looking like a Flyer”? This team hasn’t won anything in decades exactly because of this outdated notion that The team needs to be big and grinding. Do they think the fanbase prefers this type of player to the high skilled players we see going late in to the playoffs every season? Maybe the old heads who followed the team in the 70’s and 80’s.
I hope Nesbitt works out, I actually would have been happy to take him at 22.
I have ZERO problem with going BPA with Martone, even though I had my heart set on Hagens. It never crossed my mind that Martone would be there at 6.

ParticipantThe Icelanders are loading up. What a draft for them.

ParticipantSure, goaltending and the D look disastrous but the forward lines have some interesting potential if all goes well with the top draftees:
Cates-Zegras-Michkov
Tippett-Couturier-Konecny
Foerster-Luchanko-#6
Open-Open-HathawayI don’t dislike the looks of that once we’re into the season.
I don’t see them signing Cates and then not playing him at center. The smart move would be to not rush Luchanko or whoever is the 6th pick.I would not be too sad and would actually prefer Luchanko go back to Juniors for one more season. They rushed him last season when he was clearly not ready.

ParticipantLooks like the new CBA taking effect in 26-27 will include an 84 game schedule, with 4 preseason games, contracts maxed out at 7 years for resigning players and 6 years for UFA’s switching teams. A salary cap will also by in effect during the playoffs. The regular season will start the last week of September.

ParticipantIts a very exciting time to be a Flyers fan. I cant remember the last time they had so many picks so high in a draft. Bill would you say this draft is very deep on “potential NHL level” players while not being very deep in terms of NHL “stars in the making?”
This is why I think they need to hit a home run at #6. Also why I still want them to draft Hagens at 6. A ppg at the collegiate level as a freshman for a big time college program is nothing to sneeze at. I feel like he didnt drop as much as other players just improved. Watching him at college and in the WJC’s I became enamored with his speed and play making ability. While I don’t think he is on the level of Michkov, I do see the similarity in that they were both considered to be the top prospect (or very near the top) for their draft class and fell due to circumstances not really of their making. And we would be crazy to pass up that blessing.
That is why I think that if Hagens is available you can not pass him up.

ParticipantOne issue I noticed is that if you comment under a blog on the main page, it sometimes doesn’t show up. And when it does, it should also show up as a comment on the forum from the same blog.
