for the most part the flyers going to have to offer more term and more $$ to get free agents to sign here. unless they have no place else to go as richard gere once said

This is why I hope they continue the stated path to build a foundation that a big name star UFA would want to join. People talk about McDavid etc but I don’t understand why McDavid would ever want to come here. At least not in the short term. Players like that are looking to win now.

And to be honest I don’t trust a player who would accept an overpay to play for a franchise that isn’t winning. We saw it with Kevin Hayes. Do you want to win or do you want to get paid? When we talk about the type of money these guys make, millions and tens of millions of dollars, is a few extra million worth not winning or having a chance to win? I mean, why do you play the sport?

If Briere is circling back to old trade rumors, looking forward to see the return for Bowen Byram. Got to think BUF would be looking to acquire players already on an NHL roster.

I read a take on the hockey writers site that Buffalo should be looking to keep and sign Byram, trading Owen Power instead.

That is now set. If you hit quote (right hand side), you can make clear what reply you’re responding to.

We are still working on the mobile phone issues on the Forums.

Eventually, wed’ like to add an HHS app but that’s not imminent.

    Looks like its working!

Saying you don’t want to draft Hagens because you already have Luchanko is baffling logic on the level of not drafting Buium because you already have Andrae, York and Drysdale.

Ive said it many times that if Hagens falls to 6, Briere needs to get on his knees facing towards the North Pole and thank the Hawkey Gawds for blessing us for the 2nd time in 3 years. Then sprint to the stage and hand him that #25 sweater with HAGENS on the back. Maybe even kick his son down a flight of stairs as a sacrifice. You cant pass him up.

it’s been a pleasure going over to HF Boards and watching MJL get his ass handed to him by pretty much everyone haha

Bill, can you do something about these alts that keep popping up?

I like this deal. Its the kind of low cost big swing this team should be taking. You get a skilled 24 year old player who is basically on an audition contract for a 4th line center and picks.

Skill is nice, but I will take a hardworking player with some size and skill all day, everyday.
It appears to be the way the 2 time champions Panthers, also prefer.

Yeah. SKILL being the operative word here. The Flyers haven’t won anything in 50 years because they don’t prioritize skill over any other trait. Florida has size but they also have tons of skill.

I simply cant agree with the podcast and his view on Martin. Saying he will sacrifice the “fluff points” and drag his team to victory. Sure that kind of thing is great if you already have other players who can score. Martin is the kind of guy you add to put you over the top. The last bit of grit added to the mix, not the guy you pick at #6 when you need pure skill at center.

Out of these players who will realistically be available at 6, who does everyone prefer?

    Hagens
    Frondell
    O’Brien
    Martone
    McQueen
    Martin
    Desnoyers

I say realistically because I have seen numerous drafts where any one of these players falls to six.

I think if Hagens is there he needs to be the guy. You cant turn down that kind of skill.

Can you provide any insight as to who else he didn’t want around now that he is gone.

What Torts said to York, (which then resulted in York being sat for that whole game) comes to mind.

Any insight in two which side wants the bridge vs which side wants the long term deal.

I guess one would assume York wants the long term deal, but IMO I would think it is York that wants the bridge.

I can’t imagine why Giroux would want to come back to a team that has no realistic cup aspirations for what will prove to me the rest of his career. Same goes for Marner, Ekblad, or anyone else who is in the “win now or never” portion of their careers. You also don’t want to overpay for Sam Bennett.
