This trade is far from a home run. I was trying to be neutral and give it some time, but I think it’s another F for Drury. Failed to get a 1st or even a 2nd. The whole thing with Panarin was Drury had no leverage (which was his own fault for telling the entire league he was being traded with a full NTC).

This one, he could only say no to 10 teams. Drury had plenty of leverage and still failed to get a 1st round pick when all we’ve been hearing is he won’t come off his demand of a roster player, prospect and 1st round pick.

He fails yet again. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a person with a worse track record when it comes to trades. He’s atrocious.

Talking to myself in here. Jan what do you think of the Trocheck trade? I like the prospect and Durzi, but Durzi has had some injury troubles last 2 seasons. Failing to get a 1st or 2nd is a miss IMO.

Panarin Trocheck Kreider Trouba, not a single 1st or 2nd round pick in return. Big failure IMO.

On top of giving up our 2nd last year and 2nd this year (picks 43 and 35) for a cap dump, we also won’t have our 2nd next year due to the Reilly Smith trade.

That pick will also likely end up being a top 45 pick along with the 5th we gave up (pick 148) in that trade.

We traded Smith for a 3rd in return which turned out to be pick 65 last year.

    Drury just can’t miss.

That 2028/2029 pick becomes top 5?? We still think this was a good trade? Trading away futures isn’t the way to go right now. I’m not saying the value per se was bad. But we have 0 clue where this team will be in 2 years. Kind of like the Miller trade, I much would’ve preferred that pick vs having Miller on this team.

Trading away the (2) 2nds at the time to dump Nemeth I’m sure we never thought would be a low 40 and low 30 pick. The lack of center depth is concerning given the timing of when that pick will be and the age of our current centers on the roster.

The 26th? Who cares. The 3rd? Who cares. That 2028 pick scares me.

I wouldbt say it’s for nothing. That 2028 top 10 protected could become a 2029 unprotected pick. And to think that’s far fetched, look what happened to the TOR/BOS pick this year.

In 2028 our centers will be 35+ years old, Trocheck will be gone and we have 0 center prospects in the pipeline.

Mctavish was the player to get, not Dorofeyev.

I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. But it shows Drury is CLEARLY not going to rebuild the right way.

He still believes this team is salvageable. (Or knows this is the only way to extend his time here in NY)
