ParticipantMangiapane, Emberson, a prospect and 2026 2nd rnd pick for McMann
Would you do this trade?
for a UFA, anything in that realm should be fine.

ParticipantIn hindsight, eliminating the director of sports science and performance role at MLSE seems to have backfired considering all the injuries that have plagued this season.
But, hey, MLSE removed a few hundred K from the bottom line, shareholders must be happy!!!
Literally, the Leafs should have far and away the best facilities, doctors, and medical staff in the entire league. In a salary cap league, they should be spending TONS of money to make the team attractive to players and to give the team an edge on preventing and treating injuries. Strangely, by contract, the Blue Jays seem to be on the top end of the league when it comes to things like that.
Why can’t the Leafs have nice things?!?
I just saw that article.
I didnt think I would miss the Shanny/Dubas era.. we didnt know how good we had it.
On that note, Dubas has turned the pens around this season.so leafy

ParticipantCap space for what?
They have no assets to trade to acquire anyone of use. Plus you can no longer be above the cap in the playoffs….like the panthers have been for the past two years.they can take teams bad contract to get a better return with more cap space

Participantremeber what the last time the Leafs traded a D to Detroit. A D who was ran out town ……
they won the cup.really who cares, just trade with whoever gives you the best deal.
Leafs are 7 points up on bottom 5 of the League, just bail on this season. they suck

ParticipantLets see if the Leafs respond to Berube after he called in the Leafs Leadership group into his office for a private meeting.
what if the Leadership problem is Berube and Treliving

ParticipantHorrible trade. Hated it then and still do.
Tre doesnt seem to be too great at deadline deals.
Hopefully, he doesnt move any more picks or young players this year. Just sit tight or move out vets for picks/prospects.Id still prefer this leafs team finish in the bottom 5 to push our 1st out another year.
oh Tre also gave a 4th to Boston in that trade
Tre is good in front of a Mic but shit at the roster thing

ParticipantYou know what is funny about that listen you provided? Not a single one of them were drafted or developed by the Leafs. Not a SINGLE one. And that’s the problem.
I dont care about that, it doesnt mean you cant win. Florida has 3 players they drafted, Barkov, Lundell and Ekblad, all the rest were signed or traded for.
the problem is trading for Carlo and Laughtons while Florida trades for Marchand and Jonessenstrolltwo
ParticipantI get the Laughton love from Leaf fans. He’s a throwback to a different era of Leafs hockey, guys who played with tenacity and gave a f@ck. But he should go because this team is not good enough and needs to be retooled. Having said that, the Leafs need to get a LOT more invested in drafting and acquiring character people. The whole “draft the most talented player” to the detriment of team need and player type has resulted in a team with zero leadership, and that folds when things get difficult.
The Leafs have been chasing the Character grit leadership fantasy for half dozen years..just off the top of my head, all these players were to fill those needs . Muzzin, Simmonds, Foligno, Bogosian, Clifford, Giordano, RoR, Tanev, OEL, Laughton, Pacioretty, Reaves plus whoever
Thortnon, Marleau on and onbut keep trying

ParticipantI Highly doubt the leafs would actually be sellers, but the only 3 players I would have on my no trade is Matthews, Knies and Cowan, trade the rest

ParticipantBo might only be a 1 year deal with NYM.
Makes sense for Bellinger to go back to NYY, he is suited for their silly stadium.
I really wish the Jays got/would get Mason Miller ..would be so fun to watch 104mph
