An elite playmaker might work with AM

Gavin McKenna on potential to play with Auston Matthews:

“I can think the game very well & I can find guys in spots where not many people can find them so if you put me with a shooter, it could be pretty lethal”

For a 4th round pick, Maccelli is a good value pick but still ultimately a bad player and doesn’t help this team win a Cup. If that’s the best Chayka has, he should be fired today.

in the 2016 draft he got Keller and Chychrun in the 1st round. that might be better

    Draft Talk!
Iv really only seen 1 mock draft take someone over Mckenna at #1
I have seen a few that put Carels over Ried for the Dmen.

Its got to e Mckenna for the Leafs.

But why do the Leafs need Hayton and why does Utah want to get rid of him? Chayka draftees mostly suck. Look at Maccelli.

this is a pretty odd statement on Maccelli, he was a 4th round pick, and getting a player who scores 45-50 points out of the 4th round is pretty much a home run.
If he was drafted 5th overall or something, I guess he sucks?
if you look at the 2, 3 and 4th rounds from 2019 he is 4th in points per game. thats a got to be one of the best picks he made.
    like wtf

The Leafs had an elite tank season, securing the #1 pick. best results you can hope for in a lost season.

I read an interseting trade proposal
    To Buffalo: Knies
    To Toronto: Byram

I guess if Buffalo can’t resign Tuch, Knies is the next best thing for them.

    no thanks
imo Knies has much more value, byran will get a 10+ deal soon, knies has 5 years at a very good cap hit
it should take a haul similar to Brady tchk

Things go from 0 to retarded pretty much every time you post – just like your bullshit made up stat was proven to be just that bullshit and made up when you claimed Raddysh will go “back to being a -10” and yet he’s never been anywhere near a -10.

plus minus is a dumb stat to use, which is why ug always does. it full of noise, highly depends on the goalie and 5v5 on ice sv% which can be volatile season to season and if players are used with empty nets.
add in coaching style and a player who is pretty much the same can have huge variance in plus minus season to season

Im notsure the Leafs have had a D like Raddysh in 20+ years, a cannon shot. ar least the last 2 years are not full no trade, they can move him if needed.

They need to add speed to the bottom 6, and have a checking line that can handle other teams top lines and not get dummied.
Mikheyev is a UFA, id look at him again, good for 15-20 goals

He’s got $18M in cap space to play with, I would hope there is at least one more big move.

with 15 players signed, so that 18 mil has to be spread around to fill the rest of the roster.
    Domi likely going to ltir

would be nice to free up 7.5 more from someone

The big issue I have is length. Raddysh had a great year. You have to also account that it was his last chance at a huge payday in a contract year. His previous years were average, but last year he was very good. I’m worried that a David Clarkson type of scenario happens. It’s a huge risk, if he reverts back to his previous performances. Teams like Tampa don’t let talent go so freely, especially to a division rival. That must also be taken into account.

thats totally fair. weve been stung so many times.

I like Mike Kelly work with stats, I was very skeptical of his black box stuff early on, but imo hes been really bang on a lot of stuff the last few years, makes me feel a little better.

    Mike Kelly
    @MikeKellyNHL
Leafs sign Raddysh to 8-year, $8.5M AAV deal.
Coming off career best season (22 G, 70 pts).
Not sold on him scoring 20+ again but he’s a lot more than just a big shot.
Snaps a good first pass, rarely turns pucks over.
D ranks from my player archetype model

I don’t mind him on the team, but the term and the cap hit are not palatable. It should have been 4 years at $6M AAV. An overpayment. I guess you can officially say, it’s not going to be a rebuild, but a quick retool. The Leafs still need at least one more, YOUNG defenseman. They also need a number 2 center. There needs to be some pruning. Robertson, Domi, Maccelli Stecher and of course, addition through subtraction. It’s time to get Rielly off of he roster and start acquiring draft picks for future use. No more trading firsts and seconds for journeymen. The Leafs are looking like they’ll be competitive next year, so those 2 lost 1st’s won’t be top of the draft phenoms. Enough of that shit going forward.

I think you need to really recalibrate your AAV for 2026 on with cap hits 104 > 113 > 120+
8.5 feels a tad high to me, but I hope they still move out Rielly to make room for more moves
