Leafs won 1 round big fucking deal, got demolished in gm 7.. not a chance this years team with marner is much better. and it would just be a mirage.

this is the 4th season in a row there they have trended down by a decent chunk in xgf, possession whatever you want to look at. Marner was there for 3 of them
Tre has chipped around the edges to try and make the team bigger and tougher to play against..but they are just slower and worse.

they didnt have great numbers last season either, the goalies really masked a lot.
losing a top line player doesnt help, but even with him they would be bad still. things have been sliding for a few seasons, steadily getting worse with each move Brad makes.
