Forget about the spot he was originally drafted. Jiricek is on his 3rd NHL organization already for a reason. He can’t play in the NHL. Even in the AHL, he’s a defensive liability. Waive him!!!!! If he’s claimed, he’s claimed. If he could benefit from more AHL time (I’m skeptical), great. But if Simon Benoit is beating out out merit for a top six spot, and Wild shipped you out, and the Blue Jackets shipped you out, it’s a lot of trouble to go to for someone who probably will never amount to much.

Jiricek was fine in the first after a good game Thursday. First goal was mostly Kolosov’s turnover but DJ didn’t react to pick up his guy quickly enough. Wicked giveaway on 2nd goal and was in the box for the 3rd and that was enough. Bad play and bad breaks piled up on him in the 2nd. Netter to get it all out in one PS game. The Blue Jackets got a first second third and fourth-round draft pick for him. The Flyers gave up nothing in Brink. Keep an NHL goalie behind him. He’ll play through it.

flyers gave up a legit NHL player for one that isnt an nhl player. that isnt nothing. fact

I don’t have an issue with Grundstrom as the 4th line winger. Good speed and physical.

Saw rumors the Flyers are looking for a defense upgrade over Benoit and the unproven kids. Thoughts?

I agree. Bonk is probably going to be the better player anyway.

At this point in time I am not even worried that much that Jiricek wouldn’t make it through waivers. I can’t see too many teams taking a shot with having to have him on their NHL roster.

It’s been predicted he would be lost in the next expansion draft anyway, so while I hope he somehow finds his way to live up to being the #6 overall pick, I feel like Bonk is a better player.

People are over-reacting to last night because it’s Philadelphia. That said, unless they find a point threat, all these down low tweaks on the power play won’t help much.

The Philadelphia Flyers held practice on Sunday at the FTC in Voorhees. Coming off a 5-1 loss in the preseason finale the previous evening, the team faces some early adversity.
