Red Wings Needed to be Better: They Were

The Detroit Red Wings felt the pressure, and the team responded with a win. The loss to Montreal caused a lot of concern, but the players were ready to address it.  Cam Talbot was able to stabilize the net, thus allowing the Wings to find their offensive gear.

The Maple Leafs saw brilliant, as well as timely saves from Stolarz early on. Detroit was the victim of the speed and skill of the Leafs potent scoring. Another two goal deficit seemed an ominous sign, however Detroit kept pushing and it paid off.

Lucas Raymond scores 100 career goals

The scoring opened with Marco Kasper, and Lucas Raymond tied the game at two apiece. Raymond also scored the go ahead goal, therein notching his 100th career tally. The fourth overall pick from 2020 continues to shine, and is looking for a big season.

Raymond wants to be a point per game player, and he has the tools to make it happen. He came close last season, with 80 points in 82 games. Raymond also helped Emmitt Finnie score his first career point, and two pucks were saved tonight.

Red Wings top line is still Kasper, Kane and Debrincat

There still seems little doubt about the best, indeed the most consistent line on the team. Kasper’s line has picked up where it left off, and were key in tonight’s win. The skill of Kane and Debrincat is mesmerizing, while Kasper continues to grow as a centerman.

The top line is finding stability, however a new candidate may be emerging for wing. James Van Riemsdyk will make his debut on Monday, and is expected to see time with Larkin. For now, Finnie seems to be adjusting well to that assignment, and that speaks volumes for the rookie. The future looks bright for the young wings right now.
