Well, the annual porking of the ping ball balls was right on schedule. This team can’t catch a break it seems. For those who watched, the Flyers were 1 number away from winning the lottery. In other draft years this might have stung more, but given this is a down draft, its not the end of the world. I was hoping the Flyers would trade this pick anyway for a younger, established player, but given where they ended up at the 6th pick, perhaps the value isn’t there to do so. At least we can’t say the Flyers didn’t try to tank for a top pick.

Briere views Hagans as that franchise center. He has for 2 years now. My belief is he will try to move up to get acquire him. Will other teams be interested? Will he pay the price. Find out in 6 weeks.

@jd50 the flyers did not try to tank for a top pick. comical you actually believe that; actually it isn’t. They lucked into the pick.

Button apparently has Brady Martin to the flyers with the 6th pick.

After last year I am reluctant to doubt what Button has to say.

I haven’t paid much attention to Martin until Button said something. And now, looking him up, it makes sense.

    Brady Martin Scouting Report

    “Strengths
Hard worker on both sides of the puck
    Physicality
Vision with and without the puck, as well as defensively
    Energizer on the ice
Shot is near NHL-level in the eyes of many”

Another two way guy, hard worker, 200 foot game, blah blah blah

    Because Flyers.

I’m not as concerned with Briere being enamorwd with Brady Martin. Luchanko was very young for his draft and tested pretty much at top of his class at the combine. Martin is already 18, and appears to be more shooter then a passer at center.

If O’Brien tests well at the combine, he would be the prospect I see Briere could really value.

By the slim chance Martone slips, would be extremely tough to bypass for whatever center is still on thw board.

At the end of the day (no matter where they pick) it comes down to Briere and his “team” making the correct pick.

They can’t afford to not hit a grand slam at this point. They just can’t. You then ask yourself do you have faith/confidence in this group to hit said grand slam.

They hit a grand slam with Michkov, so they get that on the plus side, it remains to be seen what happens with Luchanko.

While Michkov IMO was a no brainer/no thought pick, I really thought there was a chance they would pick Ryan Leonard.

I really have no idea how they think,

@MB still need to hit big time with this pick as they really have no margin for error.

jett does not impress me in terms of him being the answer to any top 6 center solution. Not saying he wont be a good player. just dont see that much offensive upside.
