This recap covers games from Monday to Sunday (Week 3).
NHL – Blackhawks Split the Week (1–1–0)
The Blackhawks played just two games last week — one on the road in Tampa Bay and one at home against Los Angeles.
Game 1: Blackhawks Surprise Lightning 3–2 in Tampa
The Blackhawks stunned the Lightning with a late-game winner Thursday night, taking a 3–2 victory at Amalie Arena.
Ryan Donato scored twice, including the game-winning goal in the final minute of regulation.
Frank Nazar opened the scoring on the power play midway through the first, showing great touch around the net. Tampa tied it twice, but Chicago’s depth and resilience made the difference late.
Goaltender Spencer Knight was sharp, turning aside 29 shots to hand Andrei Vasilevskiy his first career loss against the Hawks.
Game 2: Kings Snap the Blackhawks Streak in Chicago
The Blackhawks’ five-game point streak ended Sunday night with a 3–1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at the United Center.
Connor Bedard scored the opening goal on a deflection from Ilya Mikheyev, giving Chicago an early 1–0 lead.
But a couple of defensive miscues cost them. Alex Laferriere tied it on a two-on-one rush, and Kevin Fiala followed up 90 seconds later with a slick wraparound to make it 2–1.
The Hawks couldn’t find an answer against Anton Forsberg, who stopped 28 shots, and Joel Armia sealed the deal with an empty-netter late.
Despite the loss, Chicago wrapped up the week with points in five of their last six games — a strong start through the opening three weeks of the season.

AHL – IceHogs Split the Weekend in Colorado
After getting shut out 5–0 on Friday, the Rockford IceHogs bounced back strong Saturday night with a 4–0 win to split their two-game series against the Colorado Eagles.
Stanislav Berezhnoy is listed as day-to-day and did not play this weekend. The IceHogs called up goaltender Mitchell Weeks from the Indy Fuel (ECHL) as reinforcement.
Game 1 (Friday): Special Teams Collapse
The IceHogs struggled all night. Colorado scored three power-play goals on three chances, while Rockford went 0-for-6 with the man advantage.
Oliver Moore and Dominic Toninato each had four shots, but Kyle Keyser stopped all 25 to earn the shutout in a 5–0 Colorado win.
Game 2 (Saturday): Commesso Leads a Bounce-Back Win
Rockford turned things around quickly, earning a 4–0 win behind Drew Commesso’s 38-save shutout — his 7th career shutout, moving him into 2nd all-time in franchise history.
Joey Anderson opened the scoring in the first, assisted by Aidan Thompson, who later added a goal of his own.
Dominic Toninato scored midway through the third, and Oliver Moore sealed it with an empty-netter — his 5th goal of the season.

Final Thought: Good Week for Blackhawks Organization
Another consistent week for the organization. The Blackhawks continue to show improvement defensively, and their special teams are slowly stabilizing (PK). The IceHogs displayed great resilience with a road bounce-back, and several prospects are already making noise in their respective leagues.
The foundation is growing — and this rebuild continues to move in the right direction.
