Were Seattle and Vancouver on his only trade me to team? For the sake of argument, let’s say yes.
Both of those teams would see Rielly as contract dump by the Leafs and would request a high pick in order to take him on with little coming back to the Leafs.
Otherwise he’d be traded already, no?Again, whether they were or they weren’t, it doesn’t matter. His short list are the teams he can’t block. The rest are teams you’d have to “convince” him to join.
Would they really? Seattle and Vancouver have cap space and are scrambling to find talent. Rielly, being from the West Coast, is easier to sell on those locations. Seattle has Dunn signed for only one more year. If the Leafs swapped Dunn for Rielly, the Leafs get an expiring contract and Seattle gets a puck mover signed longer term to a cheaper contract compared to what future UFAs will demand. That’s not a dump, it’s a win-win. Both were 35-40 point players and minus players. Just a fresh start for both guys going back to closer to home.
So no, it’s not a straight dump especially if they Leafs take back another type of “bad” contract.
Like I said, he hasn’t been traded because he’s one of the boys and the Leafs don’t have the balls to push him out the door by force.

Why give up a premium pick (Remember Marleau trade) to move a player with a NMC.

Seattle and Vancouver both still have 17 million in cap space. If the Leafs had taken back even a 3 or 4 million dollar contract, Rielly is a drop in the bucket. Hell, I’d have taken Vince Dunn from Seattle in return with the same cap hit on an expiring contract.
Keeping the player makes the team worse defensively. And his offensive ice-time, like the PP, won’t exist with bringing in Raddysh which only reduces his value further and makes it harder to move him.
Rielly is still here because he’s “one of the boys”, not because they couldn’t get rid of him if they really put some effort in.

GMs usually make the most and the biggest mistakes on July 1st. He jumped the gun and was in a rush to sign guys because he thought they’d disappear.
Rielly and Joshua need to be traded and together make over 10 million. Not finding a way to dump those guys was a big error.

80,000 channels (movies, shows, live TV, PPV, any streaming platform etc,) for 10 dollars a month. It’s not complicated. Depending where you live, you can find them in any plaza or strip mall. Or buy an Amazon FireStick and install the programs remotely. Just pay for unlimited internet usage and top of the line speed and you’re golden.
