Following everyone over here. Thanks for setting this up, boiler.

Having some trouble as it is repeatedly asking me to log in, but was able to post after a few tries. Will see how it works going forward.

Another thing about posting here. You can’t reply to a comment that already has been replied to.

    Try the “quote” button instead.

Highlight Mr. Ricochet’s response to you, then hit “quote”.
    Type your response.

I did this above to a portion of your post about stacking responses.

Still really slow in this forum. I was hoping it’d be a couple pages per day like HB still was even a few weeks ago.

I’ll try shifting some content to this thread from when I was talking to myself back in June, July and August.

Capwages still shows a 25 man roster for the Hawks, so I put together a potential roster of 23.

The 25/26 NHL Cap Floor is $70.6 million.

    (13) forwards:
    5.50 Bertuzzi
    5.50 Burakovsky
    5.40 Teuvo
    4.50 Foligno
    4.25 Dickinson
    4.04 Mikheyev
    4.00 Donato
    2.00 Lafferty
1.20 Reichel (only because he is not waivers exempt, might be gone via trade or waiver claim)
    0.95 Bedard
    0.95 Nazar
    0.95 Greene
    0.94 Moore
    40.18 total

    (8) defense
7.86 Weber (Hawks acquired his contract to help them get to the cap floor)
    4.60 Vlasic
    4.40 Murphy
2.80 Kaiser (RFA without arb rights, actual price depends on length of contract)
    0.92 Korchinski
    0.98 Levshunov
    0.91 Rinzel
0.86 Del Mastro (these bottom 4 could be part of a Rockford Shuttle system incl Allan, Harding, etc.)
    23.33 total

    (2) goalies
    4.50 Knight
    2.75 Soderblom
7.25 total (obv depends on status/health of Brossoit: they could roster 3 goalies for a bit and LTIR Weber if Brossoit is healthy)

    (1) retained salary
    2.50 Jones

    (1) buyout
    3.23 Brodie

$76.59 million total, $5.99 million above the cap floor.

    Hawks roster for Kurvers showcase.

    Thanks for this.
I’m just hoping for ONE “holy crap” surprise jump in skill level at this event.
Any more than that would be gravy.

I’m just hoping no one gets injured at this showcase. I remember a few years ago some goon from Minnesota took out a Hawks player. Don’t remember who.

Nice read by Ben Pope on how Lucas Reichel spent this summer training overseas. I remember reading some of the comments on HB about his play and those comments were spot on with some of the comments made by his current skills coach regarding Reichel’s deficiencies. Hopefully he has learned enough from this training and can take the next step forward towards his development.

I think Nick Lardis is going to stand out, maybe along with Vanacker and Spellacy.

Hey everyone from over at Hockey Buzz. Sad to see that place fizzle out, but hopefully there will be some good discussions here as the season is quickly approaching. I didn’t comment too much, but I would always enjoys the banter from the fellow fans.

Here’s a comment I made to a Frenchy article about Bertuzzi:

Bertuzzi was a “do something” signing.
He was an erratic knucklehead all season, same as he’s always been.
It’s tough to say this about a $5.5mm player, but they need to put him in the right situations so he can succeed.
He needs to remain on the PP, because he does create some confusion around the net.
But for heaven’s sake, keep him off Bedard’s line.
Just in his time w/Bedard before Xmas, I saw him fail to finish a good 7 or 8
open looks Bedard served him. Whiffed, shanked, missed the net, or shot into the goalie’s chest, he did it all.

Any improvement he makes from last year would be like finding money on the sidewalk.
