Participant2026 1st rounder
FLA still has the option to trade their 2026 1st sometime before the 2026 draft in which case the Hawks get the Panther’s 2027 1st.
Maybe FLA will use it in a package to obtain McTavish for use as a replacement center.
A lot of disgruntled trades for a young player require a young player going the other way, I’d imagine Lundell would be their requirement in the trade for McT

ParticipantYeah, except if they go that route then they would be giving up their 1st round picks for 2026, 2027, and 2028
They got their core, a lot in their prime, signed to relatively team friendly contracts for the next several years. They are in the win now mode.

Yeah, except if they go that route then they would be giving up their 1st round picks for 2026, 2027, and 2028 due to Marchand deal conditions being achieved thus taking the 2027 1st rounder. If Hawks slide to their 2027 1st rounder then Bruins take their 2028 1st rounder.

ParticipantHoly crap Barkov out for the whole season.
Everyone is talking about how the Hawks might have a chance to win opening night with Barkov and Tkachuk out but why is no one talking about how much better that 2026 1st rounder could end up being because of said injuries and in a sick draft class no less?! Could potentially go from #30 to #20.
Another thought, this now moves Benny up to 1C and likely push Reinhart or Marchand to 2C but if that doesn’t work out and they have to move Lundell to 2C, Florida is very thin up the middle and will need to look for help outside their organization immediately. Cough **Jason Dickinson** Cough. Clear Throat. Ahem! Another guy we have that would fit their style of play is Bert. Not that he’s anywhere close to Barkov, but Roslovic is still out there, and they wouldn’t need to give anything up.

ParticipantBesides isn’t that exactly what KD did with Kirby Dach?
Kyle didn’t draft Kirby Dach. He was still picking guys up from the airport back then lol which is why he didn’t want anyone from that era to be on this Hawks team and why Kane/ADB and the rest had to go immediately. Kyle wanted respect within the organization and wasn’t going to get it as a new GM when Kane & Co only knew him as Bowman’s female dog!

ParticipantI’m personally not sold on Levshunov making the team out of camp (he might make it but I don’t know that he is ready) as he was showing a lot of rough edges still IMO. I thought Crevier, Del Mastro, Rinzel has a good game against the Wings. KK was only okay. Kaiser/Levshunov as a pair generated some offense, but had a lot of struggles as well.
Levshunov/KK might both end up playing AHL hockey again to start the season and nothing wrong with that based on their age as some of the youngest D the Hawks have at the pro level. D-men take time. Even Rinzel seems to have a fair bit to iron out after his college experience (still also so young). I don’t see the Hawks selling on any of those three at this stage.
I agree that DelMastro, KK and Levshunov need time percolate, but I cannot see anyway Big Sam gets sent down or benched. He is very composed, and man, have his movement skills taken hold from when they scouted him in high school.
Del mastro will use his time to hone his skills, and I think he gets what he have to do as defenseman, and just needs to get quicker and bigger, and continue improving…in the AHL.
No matter what I think, I wouldn’t bet on Arty gets a long long look and if not any injury call up with be his debut to show he can handle the play with less quick twitch on the defensive side.
How about you Bread, play fanatsy hockey with us????

ParticipantMH, If KD moved KK today he’d be selling at his lowest point on top of he just turned 21. The return would be a good bit less than the cost and time spent developing him, I’d assume……. IMO very very little chance he’s moved anytime soon.
