ParticipantI didn’t like him in the playoffs on TV and I’m not sure he’s the right guy but I guess we will see. I know he was an Assistant coach in Tampa when they were a powerhouse but I feel like he got a lot of credit for someone else’s (Jon Cooper) work.
He wasn’t good in Detroit IMO.

Right? He did have some as the series went on but I felt like it was far outweighed by the negative. It’ll be interesting now to see if his great insight into all the things wrong are fixed since he now technically owns some of the responsibility of trying to fix them.

~Cush29Holy shit. I thought you had gotten carried away with AI images again, but this is legit. Meh, another former head coach as an assistant to replace Lambert can’t be a horrible thing. Shoulda hired Pete DeBoer, but I’m sure they were well on their way to hiring Lalonde long before DeBoer was fired.

ParticipantLalonde definitely didn’t play a major role in Tampa’s success. He’s an interchangeable part. The architect of the Tampa mini-dynasty was Briesbois (and LTIR shenanigans) and the helmsman was always Cooper. I’ve been heavily plugged in to Tampa news forever and I can’t recall one thing Lalonde has done specifically.
Darche was a bigger loss for Tampa recently than Lalonde was.

ParticipantBennett gets away with shooting Ekholms stick away. Of course.
It’s hard not to wonder what impact Corey Perry might have had on the Leafs had Dubas/Shanahan signed him all those years ago instead of Wayne Simmods. He is a p.o.s. too like Bennett and Marchand….but you need those players to win.
Our management has made so many errors in this era. 😢

ParticipantI hated Perry before he came to Tampa, but warmed up to his timely goals. He still has good hands and reads plays really well, so his positioning is not terrible for a geezer. Good shit disturber.
