Participantif you look at the contract lengths, they leafs are setting up for 2 years then…we will see. Probably just hinges on Matthews.
all the players they got july 1 are 2/3 year deals. easy to change gears then and full rebuild if they wantThis team is a mediocre wild card team with very little odds of playoff success. Better off with a rebuild so hopefully it goes that way and the Leafs and blow it up and start over.

ParticipantMcKenna | Matthews | McCann
Knies | Tavares | Nylander
Jenner | Stenlund | Arvidsson
Cowan | Blueger | Acciari
(Domi LTIR) | LorentzMcCabe | Raddysh
Ferraro | Tanev
OEL | Schenn
Andrae | StecherBobrovsky | Hildeby
That should be the Leafs right now and it would be a superior line-up when it comes to ruining a rookies career.
Fixed lol
Ffs even Matthews started on the 3rd line.
Fucking leaf dreamers.

ParticipantThe Rielly soap opera is getting annoying. The Leafs are slightly over the Cap, but moving Rielly would alleviate that problem. It still would leave them about $7M under the Cap. The Leafs should call it a day on the trade front, unless there’s an opportunity to move Rielly for a 2nd rounder somewhere. Still, the defense is vulnerable. One key injury and it falls apart.
and they still need to sign McKenna to an ELC which is going to be 1M+ per year on a 3 yr contract

ParticipantIf the Leafs wanted Werenski and it was actually possible to get him, moving Rielly and Joshua frees up over 10m. its not that hard.
They also have assets to make a deal, its whether they want to pony up or not. They havent moved Rielly yet, I assume because the offers have not been enticing enough. But i dont doubt he could be moved.
but it sounds like Werenski toss water on that fire and its out…so move onLeafs didn’t get Werenski because CBJ wants a huge return that includes Knies, Cowan, Danford, 1st round pick etc. and luckily the Leafs package didn’t include Knies. Werenski without an extension is a huge gamble and the Leafs would be giving up pretty much every valuable piece under 25 not named McKenna. Not worth it. It just creates another hole they can’t fill.
If moving Rielly and Joshua is that easy, they should be gone already. Send Joshua to DET for a 4th and send Rielly to SEA for McCann. Done.

ParticipantIf the Leafs want to trade for Zach Werenski, they shouldn’t sell the youth to do so. He’s 28 and at best, has 10 years left. He’s at his peak right now. A package like Rielly, Stolarz and the Colorado 1st is as much as they should consider paying. Keep the current core, keep the young core and add to the back end. The bottom 6 looks set as does the top 6. Defense is where they need to upgrade the most. Werenski should be the target.
Werenski isn’t going anywhere and definitely not to the Leafs, especially now that they have no assets and no cap space left. He would cost Knies. Columbus is probably just going to keep him for the short term and either move him for a king’s ransom at the deadline or give him 15 million AAV to stay in Columbus.
The Leafs can’t even get rid of Rielly, how the fuck can they be expected to get Werenski for him, Stolarz and a late 1st?

Participantthat’s alot of home town discounts.
I hope the Leafs use their cap space wisely today.
I was pretty damn close with a lot of these and the Leafs missed too many good opportunities for shittier options.
Sign Arvidsson, 5.25 AAV, 3 years.
– 5 AAV, 2 years to Detroit. Leafs should have signed him instead of Roslovic at 4 AAV. Roslovic absolutely sucks away from the puck. Total brain dead signing. Arvidsson fits better.Sign Jenner, 5.25 AAV, 3 years.
– 5.75 AAV, 4 years. Washington obviously threw more money at him but I think the Leafs could have got him down to 5.5 AAV. Huge missed opportunity. Jenner is a leader the Leafs needed.Sign Ferraro, 5 AAV, 5 years.
– 4 AAV, 3 years. Should have dumped Rielly by now. Unbelievable that Nurse gets a top level prospect with ZERO salary retention but the Leafs can’t move Rielly. Stupid.Sign Stenlund, 2.5 AAV, 3 years.
– 2.75 AAV for 1 year. Leafs could have definitely got him for 2.5 AAV for 3 years. They just missed this one hard. Sundin isn’t using his Swedish pull hard enough.Sign Sissons, 2.25 AAV, 3 years.
– 4.25 AAV for 2 years. I like Sissons as a player but 4.25 is a retarded price to pay. That’s double what he’s actually worth. Should have got somebody else for that price.Sign Acciari, 2.25 AAV, 2 years.
– 2.8 AAV for 2 years. I think the Leafs could have been competitive for Acciari considering he has played here before. Would rather have Acciari at 2.8 than Sissons at 4.25.Sign Schenn, 1.35 AAV, 1 year.
– 2.25 AAV for 1 year. Vancouver just overpaid because they know nobody wants to play in Vancouver. Leafs could have easily signed Schenn for less to shore up their weak RHD situation.Nick Paul trade: retarded. Leafs already have Lorentz and they waste cap space on this guy? Would have rather signed Jenner and Stenlund to play that role of 3C/4C than get this guy. Trading Hildeby to Tampa Bay worries me because they know how to mold big frame goalies. Would have rather traded Stolarz and kept Hildeby. That was probably another big mistake.
