Participant“Character issues in Vancouver”?
Swamp isn’t drained yet!
They need to stop paying top dollar for guys who haven’t won shit. It’s been a vicious cycle that is constantly killing the opportunity to build a winner.
Well said.

ParticipantIt more than likely didn’t’t help but Benning only offered him a three year contract because of his habits and attitude. When he held out and spent time in LA and doing events with Hughes it was the first sign of going backwards. Woman and alcohol have ruined more athletes than any other cause. He is a huge cause of the demise of this team. I think even if he does come in prepared and in shape his skating is slow now so I am not expecting much. 45 to 55 points I am guessing.

ParticipantThe only thing in that CA article that is accurate about EP40 that resembles any kind of reasonable explaination to his huge decline is “off-ice circumstances”. The rest is hyperbole. He’s been called out by teammates for a reason, he doesn’t get invited to off ice functions such as weddings, dinners for a reason. The guys an introverted flake who’s collected his money, he’s 100% okay riding the status quo out in Vancouver. He doesn’t set a good example for this impressionable young team.
I wonder how much of his wife having 2 miscarriages in 2 years over that period contributed to him becoming such an introvert? Sounds like a recipe for depression and symptoms of.
I got over our miscarriage reasonably quick when I was in my mid 20’s but seeing the depression my woman went through for the next 6 months brought me down quite a bit. We decided to try again off and on over the next 2 years without success and it started tax our relationship quite a bit. It didnt end well.
People say there is no excuses but it’s not your life. If he cant pull out of it, time to move on but it’s never as simple as the “experts” claim it is.
VHG rather delve into character assassination & treats EP as some sort of machine not a person. Later 20’s isn’t exactly like a 30-40yr old who has to learn & survive & survive from life’s knocks.
As I see it EP40 comes to camp in top condition. He is the only one that control the demands expected of him. Psychologically if it is hindering him he has to face it & grow from it. If not a reset is needed & a change of scenery is needed.
His scoring & shooting has fallen off huge his defensive play & led the NHL in C shot blocking has not. Also not having optimum wingers doesn’t help. Boeser isn’t exactly as dangerous as he once was. DeBrusk is a compliment that doesn’t the dynamic duo role. Lastly poor regimes didn’t add key compliment 3rd wheels for top 6. The D has been another issue other than Hughes & Hronek. The rest were inept at any good breakouts & more often hemmed in their own end. Dump outs their specialty to only have teams come right back at them.
In the end it’s a new season & fresh start & all eyes on EP40. All up to him. Staying or going won’t change the roster problems & challenges on the ice.

ParticipantCanucks haven’t made a good choice for GM til now. Team actually looks better in 2 months.
Last great GM was Superboss Pat Quinn may the big Irish RIP. He gave the team an identity with some good character BC boys & more.
MM has a long runway to grow as a HC & develop the mids & a team identity. RJ & scouts just beginning to fill the prospect pool. So far no lousy UFA signings for term. Moved out some vets in the way in MP & Hog. Only the 1st year of the regime & already seeing some thought & a plan in these early stages. Much more work lies ahead. Starting with a fine hiring of a HC for Abby.

ParticipantBut I was told PA was a breath of fresh air. Can’t keep track… every new GM is a breath of fresh air in Van… all I smell is dog farts.
