The only way out is Marner resigned under $13M, Nylander traded. Rielly moved. That way the assets stay in line and the return for Nylander and Rielly are other NHL players and picks. Another top 4 RHD so OEL can play his natural Left side. Tavares to the 3rd line on the cheap and another centre with tenacity on line 2. Toews on PTO?. McMann and Robertson need a new home. Bye to Jarnkrok, Kampf, Reaves & Holmberg. We have 5 good Defensemen and 2 Good Goaltenders. A very good top line. Work it out and remake this roster with grit and hustle.~ PrinceHL
This is ideal scenario. I am definitely prefer to have Marner over Nylander, but since they have no assets for trades, they need money, as match as possible,
to bring decent pieces to fill the holes in the roster.Totally off subject. Just got done doing a fresh install of a new linux operating system (distro). Went smoother than I expected. Switched over from Ubuntu to BunsenLabs. The speed is stunning after years of using heavier OS’es like Windows and Ubuntu. Start up and shut down is instant. No lag for anything. I am linux person, running linux desktop for over than 20 years, currently on 2 Desktops with Archlinux on both.
I like idea of minimal installation, some tiling windows manager and only apps I am using, nothing else.
It is easier for me probably as I am not a gamer.

Letting Marner walk is bad, but keeping him for $14+ M is not great either.

Willy has to improve his defensive game, too often standing frozen in own zone with stick in the air and watching the puck.

I think they will sign Marner, they will look too stupid if they not.
They mismanaged their high draft picks terribly and did not develop talent for
years, now they have no picks and no assets.
But it is what it is, I have no exceptions whatsoever, I just don’t believe
it is possible to make roster competitive enough with what they have now.
And how you think they can move Reilly?This team will not improve by letting go your leading scorer for nothing. Also, your leading goal scorer will not improve by losing his #1 playmaker.
Unholy_GoalierI agree with everything you said, it will make team worse and they will not find anyone to replace Marner.
That’s why I say it is no win – win solution in this situation.
Once too many bad moves done during rebuild there is no way to fix the roster anymore.
With Marner Leafs more likely to make playoffs, but I don’t expect them to go deep in playoff with Marner or without him,
we been in this scenario often enough.
