Sometimes, the blogs would be pretty decent. Meltzer comes to mind. Even Engels had his moments. The rest of them regurgitated stuff, were there to practice writing, or were just trolls.

Not once do I ever recall going to Hockeybuzz for news or for an “insider” opinion. It was 100% about the forums.

Jeepers creepers, I can’t believe I’m defending Ek and his stable of bloggers, but here goes:

Hockeybuzz was a stepping stone for more than a few bloggers to go on to respectable writing gigs.

Wow the comments format on the new Hockeybuzz sucks donkey ass. – Aethsie

It’s like he’s trying to de-emphasize the comments, which I’m guessing generated 90% of his traffic.

I can’t imagine the arbitrator only granting $1.2M.

Seems like the Leafs are being stingy.

FFS, just trade the kid for a bag of pucks.

According to the Athletic, the Yankees were winners at the TDL, and the Jays were losers. They didn’t like that we didn’t pick up a closer.

I’m not sure that she was the sexual aggressor when this players came up to the room with the express purpose of having sex with her – Cupsie

    From the Athletic article:

“Throughout the trial, attorneys for the accused argued that E.M. was the instigator of the group sex, urging McLeod to invite his teammates back to the hotel room for a “wild night.” In her decision, Carroccia highlighted that multiple witnesses testified that E.M. was the aggressor in the room and called players “pussies” for not having sex with her.”

Was it immoral? To some no, but to many yes.

Was it disgusting? To some no, but to many yes.

I’m kinda rambling here, but I think that an underlying theme to this whole trial is that many are uncomfortable with the idea that a young woman could be the sexual aggressor. There’s a disbelief that she could have wanted to have sex with multiple partners in a hotel room.

It’s an incredible double standard – would anyone blink if they heard of a 20 year old male who was happy to have sex with multiple female partners – all successful, incredibly fit athletes?

So, being the hypocrite that you are, when Matthews pulls his pants down in public like a drunken idiot, you don’t care because you beLeaf he will help the Leafs win games.

    Dude, come on.

    Yes, Matthews was drunk.

Two of his buddies thought it would be funny to sit in the back seat of the security guard’s car.

Then when she over-reacted, Matthews dropped his pants – BUT NOT HIS UNDEREWEAR – to mimic mooning her.

She subsequently looked for $$$$ by threatening to sue – claiming she had PTSD from her military service.

Sorry, but if you can’t handle that incident, you can’t handle being a security guard.

No arrests, police washed their hands of the entire thing.

JFC, are you really bringing this up again? It was a huge nothing burger, followed by a cash grab.

    Hey homies:

Visited the Vancouver Canucks fan store in GM Place on the weekend.

Holy poop, they have much nicer stuff than we do.

I guess I had assumed the 99% of all NHL apparel was the same across all 32 teams.

You add in the fact that they have a Costco across the street to grab a hot dog before the game, and I am somewhat jealous.
