ParticipantListening to chgo Blackhawks podcast, sounds like Connor Bedard is indeed noticeably faster and much better on his edges, maybe he plays tomorrow?
Thx for the intel.
They also said Reichel looks good and they feel like Moore is being given every chance to win a roster spot. He admits every time he thinks who is that it ends up being Moore

Dots, Bedard has to add some explosion in his first step. The league has been on to him for awhile. They let him enter and just front him above the circles knowing he can’t beat an NHL Dman so he checks up and deals with back checkers and coughs……….. If he can add some explosion in his feet it’ll allow him to get a step on those Dmen and access the high danger area.
He’s gotta add some jump.
According to the guys he did, that’s what I’m trying to tell you Rico. I believe that’s the reason he didn’t join the worlds after the season was over

ParticipantBTW, Kantserov with a goal in Magnitogorsk’s 5-4 win. He has 3G and 3A in their last five games after being held scoreless in the first two.
It would be nice if he signs here next year. Maybe he’ll play a while at Rockford to get used to the smaller sheet of ice and become a contributor later next season, or more likely the 27-28 season. By that time, assuming Frondell, Moore, Greene, Lardis, Vanacker, and Boisvert are on the team or close to making it, and along with Bedard and Nazar, the top nine should be pretty well established.
Looks like we are going to run into the same problem that we are going to have with our dmen, not enough roster spots for all of them?
Depth and more depth and more depth, love it, and that’s why i love the salary cap going up boiler. Everyone gets caught up in lines and centers and so on, all i want is my 19 players to be better than their 19 players and that’s what the Blackhawks are building

ParticipantI’m curious to see what becomes of Moore, probably just training camp fodder but they are talking about how his shot looks better already after working on it over the summer.
Moore, Dach, Reichel or Mikh 3rd line may actually be a difficult line to play against and produce some points and take pressure off of the top 2 lines.

ParticipantI bet the Leafs regret trading their 1st round draft pick to us to get Mrazek off the books.
That’s why i appreciate KDs approach of not rushing the rebuild like the Leafs did.

There are more legitimate #1 centers in the league than legitimate #1 RD’s, so I’m going to respectfully disagree. Look at the Leafs, they have Matthews as a #1 center, who’s their #1 RD? Let me say this, they are both very important positions on a hockey team, however as much as I like McTavish, he’s not a #1 center. The Hawks are in an envious position to have possibly two legitimate #1 RD’s, I would run with them for the next ten years.Riddle me this, Batman…would the Queafs trade Matthews for a #1 RD?
Not after losing Marner to Free agency. The Leafs are trapped in what to do next, the window is beginning to close for that as quickly as it opened
I wouldn’t of traded either RDman for Marner either and have to pay him all that money

ParticipantThen you have whatever combination of Dickinson, Mikh, Foligno, Slaggert, Greene.
All of a sudden we have actual depth and guys you can bounce up and down the line up.

ParticipantIt’ll be interesting to see how the bottom 2 lines develop.
Would it not be great if they form a 2B line in Moore, Reichel and Dach.
Many say the Blackhawks need someone to play with Bedard, i feel that if the Nazar line and maybe as time goes on the Moore line can produce points and be difficult to keep off the score sheet that will only open things up for Bedard and his line.

ParticipantShock to the system, hahaha
It’s a relief, don’t get me wrong i care for all of them but it’s about damn time i don’t have to care and provide for someone else

ParticipantActually Rico the wife and I are finally empty nesters so life is good. Done a lot of traveling since being free for almost 2 years now.
I’m going to a lot more games this year to watch the kiddies play. Figure i need something to do on the weekends.
You’re right about gming not being easy, i personally hope that they don’t move either dman, i can see a future where those 2 are big part of us winning in the near future.

ParticipantBesides when i think about Arty and KK playing together, it’s actually the responsibility of one of the forwards to recognize that the defenseman activated and cover for them.
Not exactly. One of them has to stay back and both their games thrive when they’re the one that “activates”. Not only do they not make sense even one iota as a pairing but they’d also dwarf each other’s development. Arty might be best served learning at the NHL level and have vets whip him into shape while KK needs to stay in Rockford and develop this season before he turns into Adam Boqvist 2.0
Just gotta say why would either one activate if one they didn’t have the puck or 2 the puck was not on their side of the ice? Then we have much bigger issues with those 2.

ParticipantThat’s weird i see what you’re saying now, i usually just go here and whatever Frenchy writes about the Blackhawks

ParticipantIf you haven’t noticed there has been a spam attack on the main Chicago Blackhawks forum page. There are literally pages and pages full of bogus topics. I mentioned it to Frenchy in the comments section of his blog this morning. Hopefully, he can contact site administration and get things fixed.
As these spam forum topics are generated, our General Comments forum could get lost down the pages and make it difficult to find. When new comments are posted here it will go back to the top of page 1, but it eventually will fall down the list. Maybe when you visit here you can bookmark this comments page (currently we’re on page 19) to bring it up more quickly the next time, instead of “leafing” through the pages looking for this forum.
That’s weird i don’t see what you’re talking about

ParticipantAll i know is in glad KD and the Blackhawks aren’t like Verbeek and ducks owners. This is the 2nd forward who hit RFA contract for that team and the negotiations are not going well at all. Not even practicing with them. Would not mind seeing McTavish in a Blackhawks sweater
Hope this takes. .. Been waiting to post this and think it’s a great topic for Frenchy to post on. Should KD trade for McTavish? A for real trade where a Rinzel or Levshunov goes the other way.
Most said yr after yr that KD should draft the BPA, no matter the position. He’s gone off the board with some late 1sts but for the most part he’s taken BPA and as a result his pipeline is full of excellent D prospects. We all also said when the time comes KD can trade from strength. Very good logic and a fine way to build IMO.
We also know KD ain’t scared. He showed us that in his very first draft and resistance to adding money and term for a FA forward when he was losing a lotta games. IMO he’s gone from phase to phase of the rebuild with laser focus and determination to stick to the plan. No shortcuts and no speeding up the plan has him in a great position being flush with draft premium draft picks, flush with blue chip prospects especially on defense. .. I also think KD has been laying in wait since he took the job and is now like a jack in the box sitting on a coil ready to burst and jump up.
For a McTavish to become available and then pounce. A kid who I have profiling as some degree of Bennett. A tough gamer who is in every scrum, playing in front of both nets, a player who has the size (220lbs) and demeanor to take every tough minute a season and playoffs have to offer and offer a floor of a 55-60 pt threat (Bennett’s high pts in a season is 51). A player who will impact a game in every zone……. And as a centerman he’s rare, as rare as what a Lev or Rinzel brings.
Huge swing but an add like this gives you, in no particular order, a heavy/big/tough to play against McTavish and Frondell down the middle as your #1 and #2 centerman. That’s not only elite but it’s what gets clubs deep into the playoffs, consistently. ………. I’d do it but the question is will KD do it? McTavish has to be available and the Hawk’s organIzation has to be looking hard at this. …….. Kid is 22 yrs old, 220 lbs, has played 220 NHL games, put up 52 pts last yr and is a centerman who was a 3rd overall pick.
I’d get him as cheaply as I can but would give up a Lev or Rinzel if it took that to add this skilled beast to Frondell down the middle for 10 yrs.
I agree with a lot of what you say but i wouldn’t give up a Rinzel or Arty, maybe an Allan or Kaiser I’m selfish that way. It’s so hard to get players with the ability and size and position of those 2.
Id rather take my chances on the plethora of forwards in the system. Just because the Ducks are bad at negotiating in no way we should do them any favors.
