Forget marchand. What a waste of money he would be on the leafs.
Hes effective as a 3rd liner on a mi e with other good third liners. On the leafs, he’d play second line against tougher comp and wouldnt be as effective.

It’s pretty sweet here on Salt Spring. The place is gorgeous and quite chill. Half the population looks like they came straight here from Woodstock. Not many restaurants but lots of nice food trucks. Winter was pretty quiet but the place is jumping now. We’ve got a great view looking across to Vancouver Island and there are trails just across the street for the pup.
I’ve started golfing at sweet nine hole course 5 minutes away.
Not being able to get a family doctor sucks.
My guess is that he’ll get more than most fans would like but less than what he was looking for. My point is simply that you can’t compare his situation with JT’s decision to sign a sweetheart deal.
Great move from JT but don’t expect the same from Knies. Tavares has earned over $111M n his career and this is his last contract. Knies has earned less than $2M and this contract will set the basis for future deals.
There’s speculation that new CBA will ban deferred salary which will make signing FA’s tougher for Leafs in future
