ParticipantNo to Tucker and Bregman
In Popkins and Walker we trust 💙
Yes to tucker for the right price, but not at the expense of Bo (unless they get Marte). Tucker has a 4.5 WAR, jays need quality OF.
Sliding that left handed bat between Springer and Vlad would be pretty sweet. Love Bo but I think if they can only do one, Tucker is a better fit. Tucker replaces Lukes and Clement goes to 2nd with Bam Bam at 3rd. Defensively, it’s not close between Bo and Tucker.
So, get both

ParticipantLeafs just had a road trip where they went 4-2-0 against some real good Eastern Conference competition, and now their rookie goalie posts a shutout against a very good Tbay team.
Called it! Also, some folks here have trouble using the quote/reply function eh?!
Thoughts: how many of AA alts will show up here tonight and will he once again have full blown conversations with each of them all?
Maybe he’ll challenge himself to a fight and lose. What a tool

You can’t even do that right. Loser

ParticipantDo you think any of those guys will be available in the 3rd round when the Leafs get a pick?
Leafs keep their 1st round pick in 2026 if it’s in the top 5. Which means, if the season ended today, they’d be drafting 5th overall with just under a .500 record. If they lose to the Blues, 4th overall.
Ok but I don’t see them finishing that low. They may not be very good but they’re better than they’ve been playing. There are too many guys with NMCs or NTCs to move out to tank properly.

ParticipantTanking certainly has it’s benefits this year, if they full blown tank it.
No. 3: Keaton Verhoeff, D, 6-foot-4, 212 pounds, North Dakota (NCAA)
Made a gutsy call when he decided to join Victoria teammate Cole Reschny at North Dakota. Reschny was Calgary’s first round pick, 18th overall in 2025, while Verhoeff is expected to go shortly after McKenna in June. He doesn’t possess McKenna’s track record and plays a different position, so it will be fascinating to track Verhoeff’s progress as a draft eligible defenceman in college. The debate will be heavy as to whether he was better off getting more games in the CHL, or utilizing a lighter NCAA schedule to become stronger. Only time will tell. He has checked all the boxes on the way up the developmental ladder from Canada’s Youth Olympic team through gold medals at the U17s and U18 worlds. Most recently, he was Canada’s captain in a bronze medal-winning performance at the Hlinka-Gretzky.
No. 4: Ethan Belchetz, LW, 6-foot-5, 227 pounds, Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
His size always allowed him to dominate youth hockey, and now he is doing the same in the OHL. Last year, Belchetz put up four goals in his third ever OHL game, but tailed off to score just 13 more in the next 53 contests. He roams the ice like he owns it. His hands and feet work well together to create additional space to execute plays. He’s got a big league shot that is effective from distance. I like the fact that he plays in a Windsor lineup with other over-sized players like Chicago prospect AJ Spellacy, and Kings prospect Liam Greentree. Belchetz is a different player, with more offensive upside than both, but he can definitely get some guidance from them on how to navigate his draft season.
No. 5: Ryan Roobroeck, C, 6-foot-4, 216 pounds, Niagara IceDogs (OHL)
Has already set a high bar for himself, having put up 41 goals and 86 points in his draft minus-one season in the OHL. That production is made all the more impressive considering there’s been a lot of noise in the organization since the day he was drafted. With Frank Evola now running the ship, things will settle down this season. Evola brought in head coach Krys Barch who was a solid OHL producer with size and someone Roobroeck can take mentorship from. Another great late birthday player in this draft, Roobroeck’s final ranking will come down to how he progresses in non point-producing situations.

ParticipantLeafs are second in the league in scoring. Problems are being able to get the puck out of their end and mistakes. It’s not a systems problem, it’s an execution problem.
This team is incapable of being 2nd in scoring and 2nd in defending. This Leafs team either doesn’t score and defends or it attacks and loses 5-4. It’s built upon core players that play one-dimensional hockey.
The difference between this team and the Phil Kessel team, is now we have more Phil Kessels.
They had the 7th or 8th fewest goals against in the league last year when Stolarz and Woll were actually stopping pucks. Not so much now with Stolarz at the bottom of the league in GA.
Obviously they’re not playing well defensively. They make too many mistakes and McCabe and Carlo are playing like crap. They may not be a very good team but I think they can and will play better than they have been. I think we see some trades fairly soon.

ParticipantJust a gut instinct to be honest. After they got eliminated last year, 16/34 and a couple guys were golfing together two days later. El Capitan said after 16 left that they would be friends forever or something along those lines. Matthews hasn’t seemed to be playing with the same passion so far, either.
The whole thing gives me Lowry/DeRozan vibes, minus the part about winning a championship.
This and he’s a goal scorer who is now playing for a coach who wants this team playing a style that aims at 2-1 or 3-2 type wins. Can’t see him liking that too much.

ParticipantI’ve liberated myself from this team for now. Not watching any of the games and not watching their advertisers. If they gave me free tickets, I’d sell them and plan a nice weekend getaway. This team is putrid and going nowhere. They haven’t had a heart and soul player on this roster since the days of Roberts, Tucker, Corson and Mogilney. It’s sad to say, but the last 23 years have been dismal. Sure, we’ve seen some great personal milestones for some of the elite players, but none of them have been able to elevate their game in the playoffs. Coach’s come, coach’s go. GM’s come, GM’s go and the song remains the same. Ticket prices up, broadcast revenues up, great for the shareholders. The fans just spinning their wheels and getting older. I won’t live long enough to see them do a rebuild and actually win the Stanley Cup. My fading memory will be watching them win the Cup as a 9 year old boy in glorious black and white. As I’ve said before, the last Cup victory was closer to the inception of the team, in 1917, than today. That’s the disgrace that we all must wear around our necks as Leafs fans. Might as well be cement cinder blocks.
Lighten up Francis. It’s just hockey

ParticipantYou mean, Tavares was on the ice for both the game tying goal AND the game winning goal against?
Damn…it’s almost as if one dimensional players score but still lose games.
I’m sure he’ll still beat contenders playing like that though with magic miracle powers and such. Like he did vs. Florida.
And yet you love 4th line Domi. Tavares makes $500k more than Max but has 24 points compared to 6 from Domi. Neither are Selke winners but it’s not hard to see who’s providing value and who’s going to be traded.
