In fairness, Cush, Florida needed 7 games to dispatch us after KOing our #1 in game 1. Things could have been very different.
The Oilers have dragged Florida to OT, but it’s only one game. Let’s see how things play out.
i don’t think the Florida team the Leafs faced in games 1 or 2 was who they are at all – for sure not Bob anyway. So if you back out those games the Leafs were outplayed in 4 of 5.
I don’t know I just don’t see the Leafs beating either of these teams – at least not if this level of play is what the series stays at but to the point you are making it’s game 1 so who knows what the next games will be like.
I just see 2 deep and balanced teams and Toronto isn’t balanced to the same degree or anywhere close to it.
I want Kappy to score the winner and he almost did.

So after 60 minutes does anyone really think the Leafs as constructed this year are seriously in the same echelon as either of these teams?
I don’t at all and it just again makes it clear to me that the Leafs need to part ways with one of the biggest 3 contracts they have or will have if Marner is re-signed to allow them to get a better balanced roster.
Losing JT or taking a hit to get rid of Reilly isn’t nearly enough change. Neither is replacing bottom 6 players with new bottom six players with the money they would have without the current bottom 6.
Both Florida and Edmonton have the balance that is needed to win the cup. Toronto just doesn’t currently.
And Edmonton is right there without Hyman even!
Not only am I cheering for Edmonton, but I have no reason to be cheering for anything Bennett does.
I see that play as a battle in front of the net, Bennett goes to glide back to the far post and trips over Walman’s leg and ends up in the crease. As much as I’d love for that to be called back – you can’t. There’s just not enough there. It was a bad challenge based on what we all know of the NHL.
Agreed bad challenge but when they showed the replay looked like it was Kukak with a mini slew foot that caused the issue / fall but Bennett took full advantage and made sure he fell into Skinner.
And now it’s 3-1. Jesus Edmonton figure it out and smarten up.
We need to sign Toews and then get Kane as the Marner replacement. Kane may put up a decent season next to Matthews. Toews would be a fantastic, feel good story. What a inspiration it could be to all the struggling V-injured fans to see him make a comeback.
And in this scenario is JT still a leaf?
Are you envisioning AM, JT and the other/new JT as your 3 centres?
If Marner goes how quickly does Tanev get an “A”?

Holy fuck I just give up and am disengaging trying to have a logical debate is clearly just not a worthwhile investment of time or effort.
Is it July yet so we can all shift to talking about if letting Marner walk / or re-signing him was the right or wrong move?
IF Marner goes I guess we really won’t know if it was the right move until we see what Tre does with the cap space and that might be this year but it also may not be this year (to someone else’s point – Fake maybe?) Tre may just look to snag some players on 1 year deals with the extra $ if he doesn’t like what’s available or the prices this summer and wait for the TDL or next year. Well except for sure 2 people who we all know will proclaim loudly and repeatedly that it was the wrong move, the worst move, just the dumbest thing anyone could every do in the history of mankind! lol
