Read a yahoo sports article today saying Jonathan Marchessault is willing to waive his no trade to be moved. He’s got 4 more years at 5.5M per and is 34 and will be 35 come December (he’s 3 months younger than JT).

Is he a possibly 1st/2nd line RW replacement for Marner (L2 if Willy moves to L1)?

Wonder what it would cost to get him out of Nashville?

This may also help set the bar for a JT re-up but cheaper on a home town discout.

Did you also read that he wants to go the Habs.
Are the Leafs on his 15 team no trade list?

Sign and trades happen in the NBA, not in the NHL.

Ah, yes they do. Not often but they do happen.
Winnipeg and LA Kings for Dubois
I think the Matthew Tkachuk, trade might of been one.

For example, Rielly. Am I suggesting we trade him to San Jose? No. But Vancouver or Seattle? He would accept. They are capable of making the playoffs and he’s originally from BC. That’s not a scenario where he would say no to. – UG

This is what gets me. For me, this is a huge assumption. Just because he’s from that area doesn’t mean he would want to play there. I get it, playing closer to were he grew up.
Marner did decline to waive his nmc. So players don’t always say yes.

Same goes for Jarnkrok, Kampf etc. These guys have limited NTC. The list of teams they can be sent to is longer than the ones they can’t.

This is a no brainer as there are 21 teams they can trade them to. I’d keep Jarnkrok 2.1M for next year for a 2nd/3rd line guy is ok but if you get something better than he could be included in a bigger deal. Let’s say the Leafs do a sign and trade with Vegas Marner 11.5 x 8 nmc + Jarnkrok for Karlsson + Whitecloud. Not saying this will happen or anything like that

Players accept trades, it’s just a matter of finding them a place they are okay with going to. It’s a process but not an impossible one.

    I concur

you are going to need to get some players to waive their n-mtc or nmc to which I do not see happening.

I’d bring him back on a 2 year deal at a cap hit of 5M.
Not to many C out there.
A lot players disappeared after game 4 vs. Florida.

It’s going to be difficult to move Rielly.
1st you need him to waive in NMC
2nd you need to find a team that can take on his entire salary with no retention.
3rd get ready for a crappy return ..

Kampf has a 10 team no trade clause which can be work with. lucky to get a 3rd round pick for him

Jarnkrok I’d hang on to him. he’s got 1 more year before he’s a UFA. Could be a trade dead line to move him out

Reaves not sure to buy him out or just send him to the minor but he should be done as Leafs.

Robertson is most likely gone and I’d try to move Holmberg

So does Shanny go to the Islanders?.. I think yes as I don’t think the The Leafs will renew his contract.
I hope the Leafs don’t lose Lambert as this coach is engaged behind the bench when the Leafs go on the power kill.

    @ UG
    Brandon Tanev
    $900,000 × 2 years

no way he take this type $$ as his current expiring contract is $3.5M

perhaps 2.5M but not 900K imo.
