The club was a shiny new thing that gave Toronto sports fans hope. Once the lustre started wearing off, and we became frustrated by the cracks in the pavement (Carnival iykyk), it was over. Then the writing on the wall with Marner leaving, it’s was over. Shakespearean tragedy mixed with an Adam Sandler comedy. Neither are my thing. I don’t understand how anyone would stick around for another rebuild.
And yet….Im sure two or three of your alts will be here for it.

Apparently the leafs have traded away 40 draft picks including 7 first rounders since Matthews got here.
Not a way to build a team.
So much for using marners money to build depth.
Trade away players, get picks and finish in the bottom 5 this year. This team has needed a step back season for years.
Trade Laughton for what he should have been acquired for. A 3rd

Look at the Flames and Leafs.

Dubas > Tre

Both are garbage.
Dubas needed to be fired and so does tre

This is what matters.

Marner is a complete player. He brought structure to the Leafs.

Funny how the Leafs have guys racking up a ton of pts now that he’s gone, but are obviously a train wreck of a team.

Maybe there’s more to being a good hockey team than just a few guys getting their cookies? Hmm?

Anyhow. The coping and seething is off the charts now that Mitch moved on and Vegas is having success, while the Leafs are an embarrassment. Funny watching some of you still try to defend Willy, like it was the right choice keeping him hahaha.

Cope on, my little Muchachos..

Ummm vegas is a WHOLE 5 pts ahead of the leafs. So 5pts is what defines success and embarrassment?
Marner chosed to leave…..he chose to leave you….he didnt like you. Marner CHOSE to leave his hometown team….couldnt cut it when it counts.
Fun in the regular season, disappeared in games 5 -7.

Didn’t Marner leave because he has a young wife a baby who he believed were at risk in Toronto? So much so he hired private security too.
Can’t blame the guy putting the safety of his family first.

Thats not why he left. Gimme a break.

MM – 20 GP / 4 goals / 17 assists / 21 Points +10
WN – 18PG / 9 Goals / 18 assists / 27 Points +6

The Leafs simply couldn’t afford to keep both if they wanted to build a more balanced roster (despite JT taking an incredibly team friendly deal and performing well beyond the value for what he is being paid – suck it UG you meat stick) which pretty much everyone agreed they needed to do at this point (yes many said it much earlier and have proven to be right).

Now if they have or have not accomplished building said more balanced roster so far is a whole different topic of discussion but the injuries have really impacted this team so far this year – a point that the chicken little types here just seem to ignore entirely.

The numbers so far tell us that the entire Willy is selfish, lazy, and a huge defensive liability and Marner is just an elite playmaker and such a better player than Willy narrative is providing to be complete and utter bullshit so far this regular season. Maybe Willy is in fact a sniper AND an elite playmaker!

And we all know which of those 2 players was effective in games 4-7 in playoffs series in past years and which one was not.

It will be pretty interesting to see how this looks come end of the season.

Who knows Marner may win a cup in Vegas but at this point it looks like he’d be a passenger and not leading them to it.

Things can change, time will tell.

Nothing would please this Leaf fan more than to see a Toronto / Vegas cup final and watch Marner cry while Willy raises the cup lol.

Can you imagine the media circus if it was a Vegas / Leaf final?

I hear what youre saying, but.
Actually I have no interest in ever seeing vegas in the cup final…even if its to see the leafs beat them. The best would be for marner to never see a final. 🙂
Honestly two thing can be true imo. Marner is an elite reg season playmaker and Willy has turned into a great sniper and star playmaker.
As of last year, Marner still had an edge defensively over willie (i havent watched him this year) but willie has the edge on being able to handle pressure and showing up when needed.

Marner is old news.
We have Willie styles for the next 6 years….someone needs to move on

And JT is a BEAST! Anyone who suggested resigning him at a lower aav would be a mistake, is simply an idiot.

So that the organization and some of it’s most retarded fans run him out of town when things out of his control aren’t going well?
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAN.
No one ran him out of town…he left of his own accord.
He simply didnt like you…didnt want to be associated with you….and also couldnt handle the pressure.
Good job.

lol

I get what you’re saying but I won’t lie, I’m starting to become happy that he only signed for a 4 year deal. Injury or no, Matthews is not playing like he did prior to his current deal.
Oh I agree.
He’s no longer a top 10 player he’s drastically falling off, he’s more like a 20 – 30th ranked player. Which is a big problem for the leafs.

But to suggest trading him for a kid who hasnt even played 30 games in the nhl is foolish. We’ve seen so many kids explode into to the league and fall right off or plateau.

Matthews for Schaefer.

Who says no?

So now we are trading our number 1 center for a dman that has played nhl 21 games?
Oh boy.
