ParticipantDid the Leafs claim him?
Probably not, they’re too stupid to make good moves.
Oh no, the leafs and several other teams didnt pick up a player waived by his current team.
So stupid.

ParticipantSee the part that your tiny cuck brain can’t understand is that the season is going to get harder for the Leafs, not easier. More road games vs better teams. They already failed their easy stretch of the season.
Also, the Leafs are still in 2nd last in the East. That means not only do they have to play way better under more difficult circumstances but also all the teams ahead of them have to fall off a cliff. Not just one or two, but 7 or 8. Just to make the wild card. But your dumbass is going to pretend they can still fight for the division lead because they’re “only” 5 points behind. Guess you don’t understand how statistical probability works.
Not literally impossible but a seriously large mountain to climb, not a step ladder.
But leave it delusional typical Leafs fans to get their hopes up after one win vs a lottery team after losing 5 straight prior.
Drama queen.
Its not the end of the world.
You act like its impossible for them to recover. They easily could….or maybe they dont. The only delusional person continues to be you.
Whether the leafs make the playoffs or not, doesnt impact my life that much. But a 4 game winning streak could easily turn things around…or it may not. Whatever.
Either way im sure you’ll find something to whine about.Fakepartofme
ParticipantPlaying garbage teams at home is going to be a lot different than playing very good / great teams on the road.
Leafs were supposed to already have built up a lead given their weak schedule with mostly home games.
Injuries, tougher competition, road games…they’ve got Mt. Everest to climb, not just a ladder.
Uh?
The Leafs are 5 points out of first in the Atlantic and 3pts out of a playoff spot…….in NOVEMBER!!Not even close to a mountain to climb. Its like a step stool
Such a drama queen

Participantlol I’m not a big fan of basketball but yeah I’ll still say go raptors 👍
And I get what you’re saying about Marner but there is still two things about him that didn’t fit with what the Tre/Berube wanted to do:
A: great defensively yes but not Berube’s physical style of D so no, he wouldn’t fit (a coaching error imo, just saying)
B: he wouldn’t fit this have cost $15 million to stay in Ontario to get his $7.5 mill take home. Why? Because he isn’t the only one making this choice, his wife, his dad, and other members of his family have a say in this as well, not just the hockey player. So anyone believing he’s offer a discount is a dreamer (sorry had to say that since there are a few here, not you, who want to believe that only Mitch makes the call here)Personally I only think that unless there’s something as dramatic as a coaching change to change the approach and get this team to get better this season won’t likely turn out that well, if a goalie catches absolute fire it might turn out different but the team just looks… lost.
I dont think marner was staying for any amount…maybe $15m plus…but hes not worth that.
I dont think he or willie or matthews fit Berubes style…maybe matthews a bit.Ya this team needs a goalie or two to catch fire.
Or finish in the bottom 5…so we keep our pick.

ParticipantNot all teams need to score shit tons of goals. The Panthers were only 15th in the league last year for instance. Some teams are built around D and some around offence, the leafs went for physical play and D this year and it’s not working.
So either change
1: the game
2: the players who aren’t buying in
3: the coach
4: the gm who would likely change the coach as wellSitting still with no good picks in their hands would be a truly wasted year.
They have the wrong players for physical and to play D. They lost one of their best defensive forward and cant rely on others to make it up. Mainly because “others” choose not to do it. Its laziness.
1. The game isnt changing….Dubas tried to and failed miserably.
2. I dont think we have the right GM to change the players for the better. The trades he’s made so far havent been good.
3. I think the only thing we can do as leafs fans, is hope the MLB FA market kicks into gear in the next week or two, and hope the spring season starts real soon so we can forget about this team for a year or two.
4. Actually I think we have the Olympics….so that will be a nice break…and then spring season.Lets go Raptors? Meh basketball.

ParticipantHoly fuck can the Marner argument stop?
The guy wanted a $7.5 mill take home after taxes and in an Ontario that would cost around a $15 mill salary for a Canadian player. Ta-fucking-da.
If the leafs want to succeed under Berube’s it’s simple, grinding physical play that isn’t based on scoring is needed, not fancy offensive pretty play. So unless the whole team buys into it this won’t work. The end.
Ya gotta score to win though. Which they can do…the grinding physical defensive play…they cannot do.
The big guys they brought in, just arent effective at what they were brought in for. The guys they traded for, cant do what they were traded for. Tre really messed up.This was always going to be a transition year, they werent going to replace marner and build the team they want in one offseason. Which is why it was ridiculous to trade away our first for 2026. No one in the entire league was offering a 1st and top end prospect for Carlo at that time.
Look at what most top end teams do (the bruins did it last year), have a down year in the middle of going for it years, get some picks and higher end 1st rounder – replenish the cupboard….then get back on the playoff horse.
Its what the leafs should have done this year…..which they are doing….just with no thought or planning. Its just because they arent playing well.Honestly, I dont believe Tre is the right GM for the team (he’s burke 2.0) and we may not have to correct top end players for Berube style. Which means Berube may not get what we pay matthews for out of matthews..
Berube needs to alter and do a hybrid style.Fakepartofme
Participant23BigIQPoints as retarded as ever.
Mitch didn’t want to leave. Management and retards like you pushed him to leave. Enjoy the collapse of this team and the next rebuild as a result of your own retardation.
Nope, if mitch didnt want to leave he would have signed the $13m per year contract he was offered.
He was leaving no matter what, simply couldnt handle the pressure.
The collapse of this team, their failures and possible future rebuild in 2-3 years will have/has nothing to do with anyone on here. But keep up your idiotic grrrrr im angry at everything, even things that dont exist incel ways.

ParticipantJeez, that free agent class for next year is looking… uh… uninspiring.
I feel like Matthews is walking at this point. He and fancy pants were bros, and I don’t think our future ex Captain is happy about how things shook down.
Honestly, Im fine with Matthews leaving or being traded.
But what are you basing his unhappiness about how things shook down on?Fakepartofme
ParticipantI’m emotionally checked out. I barely pay attention the games anymore. I invested a lot of time and exasperation in these chats when the team could actually have done something to change course. The ship has long sailed on this particular iteration of the Leafs. In true Leafs fashion I’m quite sure it will take them years to decide to start overturning their roster.
Im in the same boat.
No matter what this organization does, they simply cant get their shit together.
Tre has set this team back a few years. But its still early! LOL
