What now? Well, significant changes need to be made throughout the lineup if they are going to move forward and be competitive in the years to come. Demko needs to be traded. The defense is actually looking just ok, but you can’t now sacrifice what you’ve built on defense to strengthen the forward group because that’s a net sum zero move. Given the Canucks history they’ll flail around trying to get that 8th playoff spot and never really amount to anything.
In hindsight, trading the 1st for Marcus Pettersson now seems foolish, in my opinion.
I hope they trade both Elias Pettersson, the forward, and Quinn Hughes to start a rebuild, but we know that isn’t going to happen, sadly.

Last year was a tough year, management held out hope for far too long. They should’ve acted on things sooner. The team doesn’t really have the necessary means to make significant moves and Vancouver is being reported as not a destination for players, could be a tough year in Van City.
I’m hopeful Adam Foote can help bring the group together, that being said, they need to vastly improve their forward group if they’re going to find any success next season.
