The Athletic put out another mock and has them taking Martone at #6.
They have Cullen Potter at #22 and Prokhorov at #30.

Why cut ties with him? If anything it shows those outside the organization that it values loyalty. People see that and it DOES actually matter. It hurts nobody to keep him on as an advisor, probably while he shops himself around for another coaching gig. Now whether or not he gets another coaching gig is another story. I don’t see an issue with it as long as he isn’t behind one of the benches.
ASF reporting Flyers have interest in signing Maxim Shabanov. If Shabanov comes over, it will be between the Flyers and Vegas. This is a very good test for Briere to get this deal over the line, McCrimmon has been very good. I really do not care if Shabanov is small, the organization needs to be collecting talent regardless of stature. Only costs money and a contract slot to find out if Shabanov can play in North America. Get it done.
I would imagine he has a much better chance of playing right away if he joins the Flyers. He certainly is a small player, and you may not want him and Michkov on the Ice at the same time. But he scores a lot in a pretty good league and definitely has the skill. I think it is in the best interest of the Flyers to make Michkov as comfortable as possible by surrounding him with as many skilled Russians as they can find lol.
Bill, do you think the Flyers are going to be looking at a more integrated environment where both the Phantoms and Flyers play basically the same systems. So call ups can fit as seamlessly as possible in to the lineup when the time comes. Or does that even matter?
I hope they find a coach that can use some common sense. Not putting two players with great shots like Konecny and Michkov on the side of the ice where they can’t use their one timers to shoot. No creativity, no pressure, no motion, just passing up shot after shot because they are so static…..
