Is Gahagen going to be healthy enough for Sunday or are they going to have to ride with Petersen the rest of the way? I doubt they throw Bjarnason to the Bears for game 5.

With apologies to the late Mitch Hedberg: Goalie drafting is like a baked potato in a conventional oven. Draft one even if you don’t really want it right now. By time it’s ready, who knows?

    Classic Mitch.

I think it is with the Avs or Oilers pick that the Flyers SHOULD take a home run swing on a high risk high reward player like Ryabkin. THoughts on whether he will be there Bill? And do you also think he may slip as low as the Flyers first 2nd round pick?

I hear about commitment and character issues but you can’t deny the skills. Maybe they take a shot and Michkov’s work ethic rubs off on him.

I am starting to see some articles out there that Lappy may be in the running now.

I still like the idea of Ferschweiler. At 55 he is within the age. He has coached as an assistant in the NHL. Has had success at the college level. I think, at least on paper, he would have the ability to communicate with both the young players and the veterans. I don’t really care if he is good friends with Jonesy.

I would be thrilled if Frondell fell to the Flyers. Hagens, Frondell, or Martone are my preferred choices foe the Flyers.

Realistically he would be my #1 choice out of the players that may be available at #6

    Quenneville to Anaheim.

Wheeler now has the Flyers taking Martin at 6 in his mock. There always seems to be some player who rises up the ranks in the last weeks leading up to the draft.

Well, seeing how Colorado tried to trade talent for depth, and seeing what Rantanen is doing for Dallas, it would seem to me that the more talent at the top of the lineup, the better chance you have to win.

I see our resident son of the Flyers janitor finally showed up.

do the Islanders trade #1 overall to acquire assets and draft hometown boy Hagens? He seems to really want to be there.

Its an interesting exercise. It would reasonably have to be one of the teams picking in the top 4 (MAYBE 5)

San Jose has their own #1 and one from Dallas, as well as 2 #1 (Edmonton) picks next year.
Chicago also has 2 (their own and Toronto) this year and 2 (Florida)next year.
    Utah has 1 pick
Nashville has 3 1sts (Tampa, Vegas) this year.

Bill, I understand Button is a premier expert of these kids, way more than I ever could be. I worry because the Flyers IMO, need to knock it out of the park in this draft, because I honestly don’t think they will be picking this high again for quite a while. My feelings are from this point out they will be drafting in the bubble areas unless they get Islanders level luck, over pay for Kevin Hayes level free agents, open a short term window, then be in cap hell once again. Too much has happened over the years under multiple regimes for me to believe that anything but “Flyers Culture” (whatever that means) will always win out.

Do you believe Brady Martin is that type of “swing for the fences” pick the Flyers need? I am ok with them going off the national draft board if they think they have someone like that, but what I dont want is another safe “200 foot”, typical Flyers type player with a high floor but a not so high ceiling.

    Talk me off the ledge.

On another note, I was able to get control of the original MBFlyerfan login which is now connected to my email. Someone had tried to change the password and I got an alert. So when I went in, I was able to change the password but unable to edit the somewhat offensive nickname that account has. I am just not going to use it at all and chalk it up to petty people.

Draft never really goes how the mock drafts indicate. I’m very confident Frondell or Hagens will be available @ 6.

It seems it may fall that way. I am terrified that Button is right again and they go off the board.

Last year I told Button on his youtube video that he was out of his mind saying the Flyers would pick Luchanko. He was right, I was wrong, and I apologozed. (Not that he ever saw it)

So this time I will not say a word about what he thinks. Martin wasn’t even on my radar before he said this, so I looked him up. He seems like the typical player the Flyers would normally pick, 2 way player, kind of a pest, works hard etc etc etc.

    I hope he is wrong.

@MB still need to hit big time with this pick as they really have no margin for error.

jett does not impress me in terms of him being the answer to any top 6 center solution. Not saying he wont be a good player. just dont see that much offensive upside.

Yeah, I really hope they go with best available and if they take a home run swing it had better be worth it. Not pick some kid because he is a “Flyers type player”

Drafting Flyers type players has gotten them nowhere for 50 years.

Hopefully Hagens or Frondell drop to 6. And if not, I say take a swing on McQueen. Then take another swing on Ryabkin if he is there in the 20’s.

They need elite talent more than anything.
