I cant believe some people think a rebuild is slow, if it takes 4-5 years.
This team has nothing for talent yet some think it will miraculously take 2 or 3 years.
Some people just aren’t very smart.

Slow as in no shortcuts. 2-3 years would take incredible growth & development. Idk who these ‘some people’ are you refer to. 4-5yrs is more likely the long term plan.

    Adios enjoy CA

Passing on some very good D with the fixation on CM is a risky move. If he doesn’t become an excellent 2C at worst they missed the boat.

With D depth being Mancini Kudryatsev & Mynio & the need for a top 4 LHD wondering if the strategy is EP &/or Boeser/DeBrusk moved for D? Puts a lot of faith on D Petey to be top 4. Last option if lucky then a UFA D but unlikely. If the rebuild is planned to be a slow 4/5 years then this past draft has to be a home run. Next draft would bump that.

Canucks need to draft some more size on defense, relying on a small defense will get them nowhere.
Hopefully they can get some of those in the next couple drafts.

They kind of dropped the ball on that so far. This draft that just happened was chock full of good large mobile defense. That was the drafts personality. The Canucks focus on forwards.

With the exception of Dupont, the 2027 draft is chock full of forwards and the D are late in the 1st round and all average to small size. I think they were foolish not to draft one of the high ranked large D at #3 and then snag one of the great C’s next season. I said it before… these guys are showing tunnel vision.

I get the focus on big F’s but yes the D in the draft was deep. EP has to step up. After that we are very weak. Building a PO roster has gotten tougher on the D side of it. Need to luck out huge & get Dupont if not a top C won’t be a bad thing.

I think we are going to have a lot of Canucks property invited to the WJC this season so I opened a specific thread.

Brooks Rogowski has been invited to the summer showcase. Good. This kid needs a lot of hockey. It was a good decision of his to put college off a year to get in 70 games OHL games plus playoffs potentially. Now we can hopefully add some WJC games as well.

I’m hoping they play him on the PK. I think he has the potential to be one hell of a penalty killer. He’s defensively wise, good foot speed and extreme reach. Should be strong as an ox as well…

Wondering if Cootes is on team 🇨🇦?
Rogowski oughts use the showcase as a big stepping stone going into NCAA hockey.

Coaching staff named and another top 3 pick next year looking excellent

I’m worried they play themselves outside the top 3. Hearing RJ talk about “not wanting to sell off and get their teeth kicked in every night” means he wants to keep a level of competitiveness. Obviously one way or another they will win some games but they need to be careful. We cant have them missing on the 2 or 3 franchise altering picks available. If RJ starts the season with more or less last seasons roster but healthy, this could happen. A healthy Demko could steal them 15 extra points… maybe more even. Petey improving under Manny may help him as far as a trade goes…. but do they then decide to keep him? Buium could also have a break out season… he’s due…. another good season by Hronek… even better than last season…. a few other improvements and the Canucks could slip out of the top 5. Likely? Probably not… potentially? If those things happen… very much so.

Comments from RJ have me wondering just how much of a tank they are willing to do… A Dupont or Joseph addition would really help set this team up for a Stanly cup. If we already picked the highest we are going to pick in this rebuild… then they will be dropping the ball early.

Nowhere but up in a lousy division gaining points. RJ doesn’t want development stagnating is my take if we outright tank all season. Lots has to right or wrong depending how we look at it to miss a top 5 pick. Top 3 pick is definitely on the line.

The coaching staff has been filled. They’ve a big role facing them at the start of this rebuild under a new regime. GL you’ll need some lol
