This team does not work, due to the imbalance of the payroll. You can’t have two right wingers making over $11M each, on long term deals. Matthews is also slightly overpaid, but a year ago, he scored 69 goals. Who’s been even close to this in over 25 years. Also being a centre, he’s worth more than a winger. Tavares is almost spent as an elite player. Yes, he had a good year, but it was a contract year. Is he really still a number 2 centre? His defensive game isn’t stellar. He does win faceoffs, but wouldn’t he be better slotted at 3C? The answer probably would be yes, but then who do we get for a #2? Many questions to be answered this summer. Leaf cannot go forward with both Marner and Nylander at this price point. Leafs are still a good hockey club, but adjustments need to be made.

Marner just had his first 100 point season. Matthews has a Calder, a number of Rocket’s and a Hart Trophy. And Marner has won what trophy, since he came to the NHL? And he wants Matthews money? I think not. He’s too small for playoff style hockey and disappears. He’s known to get primary assists on the opponents goals by puck giveaways and he wants what? Matthews money? No F’n way! If he wants Nylander money, then he signs the identical contract. He won’t. The soap opera will continue. His papa Paul will start giving executive orders to Leafs management, once free agency hits. Marner should go and take the Johnny Gaudreau retirement contract and play in Cannonball City Ohio, or the Great Mormon Tabernacle in Sault Lake City. He needs a good humbling.

    Rielly out
    Marner out

    Ekblad in
    Boeser in
    Ehlers in

JT either signs for $5M or less, or he can walk.

If Sam Bennett comes in under $7M per, you take him instead.

The rest of the defense stays.
Matthews stays, he’s one of the best goalscorers in the league.
Sign Knies long term. He’s the real deal.
Tinker with the 3rd and 4th lines.
    The Goaltending is solid.
Get rid of the dead wood.

    Kampf gone.
    Reaves gone….Robidas Island.
    Domi stays.

Hope for Easton Cowan to make the jump next year.

Maybe Paramount+ will buy the rights to this Soap Opera. My jersey is already folded up and in my suitcase. At least I’m up a bit at the tables. $165. plus a comped room, plus a cheap buffet. The prime rib was delicious. I did eat at least 30oz of this delicacy. Stuffed now!!

I think I’ll go back to the tables for a while. A waste of time watching this. Where’s our pending UFA’s tonight? By 11PM, you can leave now. Pathetic!

Have they even won a single puck battle tonight? Berube should have called time out after the first goal. Ghosts out there….no pride or compete.

On remote from the Akwesane Resort and Casino. I felt it necessary to chime in. This looks like Game 5 all over again. For the 9th year in a row, we failed. Woll came to play but no-one else did. It’s typical to get our hopes up, then let us down one more time. It’s despicable but we aren’t on the ice, the Hobbits are. Stuck watching the American feed, being stateside. Lots of Canadians here and lots of long faces. Nobody stepped up! Got it?

Pretty decent tilt here, on Saturday night. Ottenger just made an outstanding save to keep it at 1’s. Desperate hockey at both ends of the ice. Prediction: Next goal will win this series.

I’ve decided to just leave the “Buzz” for now and probably forever. When I received a stupid ban that made no sense, for 1 month, I decided to move here for good. I’ve always enjoyed Mike’s blogs and his podcast opinions. I have nothing personal against Fred Johnson(EK). It just lost its way and nothing was done to correct their issues. The banning of multiple person’s for next to nothing, no warnings, just banhammer. Dumb, and now the price must be paid.

No riots during Toronto victory parades. Only day time shootings.

A reduction of Car-jackings in Brampton. They’re all in the “6′ doing it there.

Right now, this is the best team that they’ve had in over 20 years. Next year, they’ll probably step back somewhat. The Defense will be the same, as will the goaltenders, but Patches will probably retire and Marner will move on because he’ll want too much. JT will be another year older and he’ll need a new contract, as will Knies. Not enough money to go around. They could retool by letting Marner and Rielly go, picking up assets via free agency, but the chemistry will change. Now is the time to take your shot at the Stanley Cup. Just score 1 more than Florida, tomorrow night and it opens up possibilities. Just know, only 6 teams are left that can win the Cup. In a couple of days, it’s down to 4.

Looking at game 7, know that we can eliminate the Stanly Cup Champions, on home ice. It’s why Berube pushed them so hard during the last week of the schedule. Getting home ice and having the ability to have last change is crucial. Keefe never understood this and rested players, down the stretch. It’s why we ended up with a game 7 in Boston last season. If we prevail, it will be a major step forward. To play Carolina with Home Ice would be an opportunity to make it to the finals. I’ll go out on a limb here and say Dallas will defeat Winnipeg and if so, the Leafs have Home Ice for the rest of the playoffs. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but the games will be closer and small variances like penalty killing and powerplays will become magnified. Just score one more goal than Florida, tomorrow night, and it’ll be go time!

Time to bring the blue Karma on Sunday. I wonder if all of those people who burned their jersey’s are having second thoughts?
