Participantanyone see this
Frank Seravalli: If it’s an 8 year deal for Matthew Knies, it’s going to be north of 10; it’s probably going to end up being a 5 year deal – DFO Rundown
ok then.
peterka just got 5 x 7.7 ..so I guess around that thensenstrolltwo
Participantinteresting wrinkle
PuckPedia
With word that in new CBA contracts will be limited to 7 years to re-sign or 6 years w/ new team, there’s a big choice for ‘26 free agents:Sign 8 years with their current team from July 1 until next June 30, otherwise they can only sign for 6 years if they go to market July 1

ParticipantSwayman would be a good move for Edmonton if he was available. But i dont know why Boston would move him now after just signing him

Participant7.7M cap hit over 5 year.
Knies comp?
sure, peterka has more games, points, better pts/gm, goals gm, season high points etc etc.
pretty much every catgory hes got better numbers.so far.
if they Leafs could get knies for similar cap but longer term, its a win I think
but taxes blah blah

Participantpeterka off the board. big Meh
Buffalo is a messLeafs are apparently in on everyone…which also means noone
senstrolltwo
ParticipantOvechkin took 13 years to win the Cup. Yzerman took 14.
Perfectly Leafy that the Leafs would start the blow up of the team prematurely.
you are the one saying the leafs are done and he is leaving.. jfc
If he wants to leave, nothing they can do… and prefect time to rebuild.you talk out both sides of your mouth

ParticipantI dont see Marner as a coaster. Hes just soft and gets jittery when team bang and crash him and his dispy doodling doesnt work anymore.
Vegas has 18 players and 9.6 cap space. so a lot of room to clear to sign 4 or 5 players, esp if Marner is 13
Hertl or Karlsson would be good targets, not sure they would move Eichel but with 1 year left..id check
senstrolltwo
ParticipantEvander Kane is a big Meh for me, only 1 season so its not a huge risk.
Issue with the Leafs is they dont have a lot of runway left for rolling the dice, they need legit difference makers with the cap space they have. cant take a shot an miss anymoresenstrolltwo
ParticipantSo like 12 years oh Matthews and then a rebuild. yeah that makes total sense. if they havent won in 12 years, Rebuild is fine

Participantwhat it take to get lawson crouse?

ParticipantStamkos 8×4 after a 40 goal season at age 34
then has 27-26-53
have to think a similar decline for JT is coming very soon and pay accordinglysenstrolltwo
ParticipantMy limits for JT would be something like …
5×4.6 (8,8,4,2,1)
4×5.5 (8,8,4,2)
3×6.3 (7.5,7.5,4)If he doesn’t like it so be it ….he did nothing significant in the playoffs and is declining. You can rent JT’s at the deadline without destroying your cap for years.
im the same, those numbers are fine, but wouldnt do something like 7mx3, just move on. stick to your numbers
also I could see him getting UFA offers like 7 or 8m x 4 or 5 years
senstrolltwo
Participantif JT was getting money from another contract, the leafs and JT would still be “wide apart”, thats how it works
senstrolltwo
ParticipantI believe Duchene is also getting paid by Nashville for the next 4 years…another $2.5m per. So he’s gonna make about $7m per season in total.
sure, but he certainly could have gotten more regardless
senstrolltwo
ParticipantChris Johnston mentioned that the Leafs may pivot to Mikael Granlund, for example, if Tavares walks.
CJ added the Leafs and Tavares are still “wide apart” on money. If the Leafs go long-term, that might help bridge the gap, but neither side is there yet. Both sides understand they’ll have to move, and with a week before July 1st, Tavares is still more likely to re-sign than not.
another problem is, if they dont sign Tavares… they could pivot to a worse player.
it always seems like other teams get an quick easy deal done… 80 point player Duchene signs for a ham sandwich and bottle of rum, Leafs and JT are far apart .. same ol stuff
