Participantplayers are not totally taxed based on the Team/city that they play for, the 41 home games are and the rest are taxed based on where the game is played and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Do players on teams in no-state-tax areas gain a massive financial advantage?
There are six teams in the NHL that play in cities that do not levy a state income tax. These teams are the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken, Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars. Undoubtedly, this is a financial advantage for these players and is being used as a recruiting tool by these teams. However:Players on these teams still owe taxes for games played in other states and provinces.
For high earners, federal taxes (U.S. or Canadian) typically dwarf state taxes, meaning the state tax benefit is often overstated.senstrolltwo
ParticipantLeafs lost who gives a shit and its not like its 1 year, its 10 years of failure.
the team hasnt won a fucking thing as is. in 10 fucking years.

ParticipantAnd yet has more career playoff points than everybody on the team so clearly the stupidity is in the complimentary pieces they keep failing to acquire.
because they have to overpay Mitch to shit his pants when they have to win a game.
14mil to not help his team win.

ParticipantFact is Marner has been part of the methods of stupidity in building a team.
so overpay him again?doesnt make sense to say they suck a one thing then want them to do that same thing

Participantsome people get ranty when you post simple facts. its nothing to get worked up about. UFAs get offered contracts based on thier reg season production.
players who score 38 goals and 74 points get paid accordinglysenstrolltwo
ParticipantRielly for Zegras
edit – nvm hes off to Philly
senstrolltwo
Participantlol jfc constant ranty guy cant help himself
who fucking cares about all that. point being they didnt have to reply on good drafting to win.senstrolltwo
ParticipantAh, another year of not having to bother watching the draft.
Just like old Leafy times.
i will watch to see Bettman booed and hear about all the trades that dont happen

ParticipantCorry Perry at 34 scored 5 goals and was always injured, Tavares just scored 38. is a Center and still a point a game.
I agree once JT is a 10 goal 30 point player, he should be getting 1mil deals. but thats not reality for him right now.JT has been exactly what you expect over the 7 years. If you were expecting awards and scoring titles, thats probably on you

ParticipantOut of Floridas last 10 drafts (63 picks) they have 1 player on the team that had any impact on the cup wins. Lundell
thats 2015-2024senstrolltwo
Participantim going to have to post this over again
re Toews
Every player that signs that someone wanted on the Leafs, its because the Leafs are dumb and didnt just go get him.
there are no other reasons
senstrolltwo
ParticipantAlso Trade Rielly for what ev and sign Ekblad for rough the same $$

ParticipantFrankie Corrardo’s predictions are just his name being credited for a bunch of propeller heads in the back doing the work lol.
Also fuck no to 8M for Marchand at 37 years old for me.
From this list, instead of Marner at 13M or more:
Give me Patty Kane at 4M for L1
Bring Connor Brown back home for2M
Hell grab Jamie Benn for 4M
B. Tanev at 1.5 would be great
I dont really care whos name is attached to the list, just curious about what some players might land at
you could also get granlund, kane, brown and tanev for less than Marner

Participantsome contract predictions
marchand 8.1 and Puis suter 4.6 = 1 Marner

ParticipantI am going to be positive here in that let’s think about what “far apart” means. I haven’t checked any articles about it or sources to know more details so I am speculating but can it not mean Knies wants a shorter term and leafs want longer? It doesn’t HAVE to be dollar amounts and it’ll be an overpay. It could be maybe the leafs want to give him 5 and he wants 8 or 9. I don’t necessarily believe that 8 x 8 would be a 1 or 2 mil overpay. I think we need to look at the contracts this year with the cap going up in the future in mind. We just gotta hope we don’t have another pandemic to stall it all out again
I have no idea what far apart really means either, but my mind just goes, the Leafs want 6.5mx8 and he wants 8.5mx5
