ParticipantI dont get the feeling better because the leafs took the panthers to 7 games, it didnt feel like a close series, Leafs got crushed a lot of the time (like every other team the panthers played).
10 years is enough to see major issues and big changes needed.Tavares scored 2 goals in the series just as much as Mitch and Matthews combined. but really who gives a shit.

ParticipantMakes sense why it’s such garbage now.
you are such an insufferable person. nobody can have a decent conversation with you. every reply from you is dripping with arrogance and negativity.
what a miserable person you must be to be around.jfc

Participantthe numbers are from
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6420056/2025/06/17/nhl-free-agency-wingers/?source=user_shared_articleJust value projections. not what they will get, some will get overpaid. some wont..
Tavares is worth 5 no problem, the difference between him and Marner is that one will cost 14 and provide 13 mil value and one will cost 5.5 and provide 8 mil value
Nobody is running Marner out of town, hes a big boy, he can make his own decisions.he is running his own ass out of town
Marner wont make a difference to this team winning. time to get over it and move on

Participanthere are some of Doms contract projections, or value.
Tavares 7.9
Bennett 6.6
Marchand 5.1
Pkane 3.5
Tanev 2.2 (his projections look terrible)
Toews 1.9
Donato 4.2getting JT for 5 or 5.5 would be a no brainer imo.
but you could fit Marchand, Kane, Tanev and Toews for less than Marner
if those numbers were realisticsenstrolltwo
ParticipantThis site is working again…ok.
Except Marchand was inserted into the 3rd line of a well oiled machine…..the leafs arent well oiled…..and he’ll probably playing too high up in the line up….which has been a problem with the leafs for years.right which is why now they should add better depth with the space from Marner…and possibly Tavares.
it might not happen in one off season, but they have to start

Participantit was rumored that Bennett was either offered / was to sign an extension with Florida 8×8. Marchand was rumored to be asking for 8M as well but not sure on the length of the contract.
Finding the next Wilson/Bennett/Marchand type player going to hard for the Leafs with the lack of pick in the next few years. Teams that do have them aren’t given them up unless you overpay to acquire them.
The leafs have found a rareish unicorn type player in Knies. power forward. 30 goal scorer (well 29)
but Florida didnt draft Bennett or Marchard. they just plugged them into a good team. Leafs can do the same
senstrolltwo
Participanti thought the site crashed cuz the leafs re-signed marner
senstrolltwo
ParticipantIt’s unofficially official boys, Marner is taking his purse and leaving town.
and his sundress
senstrolltwo
ParticipantHe’s exactly the type of player Carolina needs, undersized and as soft as downy fabric softener. Brilliant move, Canes.
yeah, odd. oh well. i really cant muster up any give a shit about MM leaving. 10 years was a long enough time to give it a shot
I also dont need to hear how the Leafs will be worse…they might..but meh idgaf, the might be better..have to see all the moves.

ParticipantReport: Hurricanes expected to offer Mitch Marner 7-year deal worth greater than $14M AAV
how high can he go, I think Mitch might get one bajillion dollars
senstrolltwo
Participantim just here for the boning talk
senstrolltwo
ParticipantAt least the Bennett to Toronto talk will die down now. We knew that shit wasn’t gonna happen.
so you are saying the Leafs are signing Ekblad?
senstrolltwo
Participantanother comp for Knies is Wyatt Johnson, he signed for 8.4 x 5 years. he did have a little more proven success though
senstrolltwo
ParticipantThat’s like throwing a Molotov Cocktail in a couple of years. Do you really want him to leave as a UFA? Or an offer-sheet this year? Pay him now at $7M for 8 years, or pay him $11M in 2 years. Better to have the lesser cap hit in year’s 3 through 8.
Well thats if that number was possible. Which it may not be for 8 years.
some realistic numbers iv seen based on current and projected cap.
8 years at 8-8.5mil
comp players like Boldy, Slaf, Byfield signed in the 7-8% of the cap range
not all were for 8 years. its 7, 8 and 5 yearswhile its easy to say sign him now for 8 years at 7 mil, I doubt thats the number (anymore)
senstrolltwo
ParticipantFor a bit more cap flexibility, might be a good idea to bridge Knies.
go 2 or 3 years now would allow them to add 1 more decent bottom 6 -
