Didn’t watch any showcase games. How did nesbitt do?
Canada player of the game today but no one was all that good. Game was an ass kicking.
Golden Boy Tippett killed penalties, created a lot of his own scoring chances,
and played through a sports hernia.Matvei “Super Computer” Michkov pouted about, gasp, being asked to play LW. He still hasn’t learned that trying to win 1-on-2 battles near the blue line will piss off any coach he ever plays for. Meh skater. Hardly moves his feet much of the time. Average forechecker. Rarely backchecks.
Until he improves, he won’t get or deserve more ice time.
Comes to camp out of shape. 2nd season under his second coach, under his second system, still learning to communicate and get used to the culture and country. Still puts up 51 points which is the same as Golden Boy Owen Tippett. People call him a bust while glazing Tippett nonstop. If an out of shape 2nd year player can still score 51 points, well……
I believe being in shape will give him some confidence he may have lost after getting beaten up a little bit last season. Confidence is his whole game.
I predict 70 points.
I’d love to see the Flyers actually find a way to weaponize their cap space. Also, good point about how the Flyers kept Drysdale and Zegras to limited no trade clauses and relatively team friendly contracts.
It’ll be nice to see Michkov put last season in the rear view mirror, not that there wasn’t anything to be encouraged by. He played great with Cates and hopefully that stays together. Still popped 20 goals and eliminated his rookie plus/minus deficit. So much hand wringing over a sophomore slump.
Benoit is a willing fighter and has defended himself pretty well against many of the leagues top destroyers. Not a nuclear deterrent, but it’s better than nothing.
Flyers need both better puck possession and toughness. Hard to get both at once
Is there a path to trading for Werenski?
If he’d waive for Philly, I think the Flyers would put together a big offer
I think the Zegras side left some money on the table. He got paid four years out for the player he is right now, not the player with some upside I think he is. I don’t have a problem with a prove it deal based on past performance but the term is a year too long. A lot of guys are getting paid on potential and not results.
I was surprised it was four years. Maybe it was a compromise term.
we will have to work around the lack of a 1c through depth. The Carlsson situation hammered that home.
No problem. Zegras, Dvorak and Cates are all coming off career years and there’s upside there.
Zegras can still improve. I think Cates can play at current level for some years to come. I think Dvorak may produce less.
