ParticipantAnd there goes Marner.
Leafs officially idiots.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantThey can’t afford more than $1M with some bonuses that count against next year. He’s gone.
They have 4.9 AAV, 9.4 if they dump Rodrigues and Boqvist.
It’s manageable.

ParticipantI’d rather get something than nothing and Roy is a decent 3C option.
He’s bad at FOs. He’s a bad center. His last 2 most recent playoff runs were rather meh, 2 goals and 4 points in his last 18 playoff games, one brutal 5 min major vs. the Oilers in OT. There’s a reason Vegas is giving up on him. He’s the next Laughton.

ParticipantSo pretty much the same thing the leafs have been the whole time (outside of twice) Marner was here.
Compared to last year, will be worse. Instead of building, the Leafs are now deconstructing, losing pace with Florida that is going to be pretty much exactly the same while the Leafs go backwards.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantThat’s literally the point of my post. Marner decided long ago that he wasn’t going to remain a Leaf, so let’s get it done and over with. We can bitch till we’re blue in the face about how the Leafs mismanaged the situation, but that accomplishes nothing. But you seem like the kinda guy that screams at clouds, so go off.
Leafs would be better off with Colton Sissons than Roy in terms of getting an actual 3rd line two-way C.

ParticipantEF expects the Marner to Vegas trade to happen today. Let’s just get this done and move on to the next chapter.
So they can bring in Roy, a big body who doesn’t use it (less playoff hits than Marner) and can’t actually play center because his FO% sucks (47.7%).
Looking like a wild card, 1st round exit kind of season.

Participant8×6.1m for Ekblad just laughable
Is it? The guy just had 20 game suspension for drugs. Think this guy with a history of some injuries isn’t going to hold up. Not like he’s worth 10 million imo.
The drugs part is a non-issue. Tainted supplements happen. There’s an outside chance they did it on purpose to get under the cap at the deadline but that’d be very difficult to prove.
The real issue is he hasn’t played a full season in 7 years and only 3 times in his entire career. Long history of concussions. And he only had 3 goals and 33 points last year.
For his situation in Florida, it’s a fantastic fit. But anywhere else, it would have been a disaster contract.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantI’d bet Marchand is willing to take far less than $7M to run it back again.
Don’t think it’s that far less than 7. He’s 37 so it’s a risk for anybody to sign him long term. He left Boston because they wouldn’t give him 8+.
Considering he’s on a juggernaut team, the weather and the state itself is fantastic, I’d say his bottom dollar is 6.5 AAV for 3/4 years.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantRielly is unmoveable, he’ll play out the rest of his contract in the Blue and White. But, if Tre somehow moved him and replaced him with Provorov, he’d be an instant legend.
Not true. Seattle or Vancouver could take him and he’d waive to go there. Just a matter of actually pressuring him to do it.
This idiot management team probably still thinks he’s part of a winning solution.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantNo chance he signs that, when he can take less to stay in Florida and clear more.
Panthers would still have to trade somebody like Rodrigues to have enough space for Marchand who probably wants at least 7.
