Marner with another 3 points but unfortunately, Hart let in some shitters and gave the Ducks an easy night. It’s a shame Adin Hill fell off so hard because he was good enough to win a Cup (.932 SV% in 2023) but he just fell off a cliff this year.

Marner has done fine in the playoffs with Vegas. The only issue is the quality of teams that Vegas has played so far. Once they get to Colorado, they’re going to get smoked. That team is the deepest team in the NHL. Outside of their average goaltending, the team is stacked. In the East, it’s Carolina’s to lose. They’ve also had a very easy run, to get where they are. Ottawa and Philadelphia are decent teams, but not championship caliber. Once Buffalo and Montreal kill each other, Carolina should easily get to the finals. Once there, Colorado should take them out in 6 games. It’s looking pretty predictable right now.
The Leafs fumbled many “low quality” teams. The Boston teams that the Leafs lost to all the time weren’t THAT good. They just worked harder than the Leafs. The Leafs blew a 3-1 series lead to Montreal. Missed the playoffs losing to Columbus.
Minnesota isn’t finished yet. They might get Colorado to switch goalies and that is their biggest weakness. Any team that stops getting saves, usually falls apart pretty fast. They can only win high scoring games 9-6 so many times.

I love how the Marner Derangement Syndrome retards thought Torts being hired in Vegas was going to be a disaster for Marner. Meanwhile, in reality, Torts is praising him as confident and playing with the proper mindset. It’s amazing what encouraging your best players can do instead of blaming them for everything and running them out of town. Marner is playing nearly 21 minutes a night, in all situations (scoring points short handed), 2nd only to Eichel in ice time but leading the league in points and tied for the lead in goals. Eichel is doing his best Matthews impersonation with only 1 goal in the entire playoffs so far. Just imagine if Eichel starts playing up to his maximum potential and Mark Stone, who has also been below his best, knocks it up into a higher gear too.
Also pretty funny seeing Fred Andersen as the #1 playoff goalie thus far with a perfect 7-0 record and .957 SV%. Another guy the Leafs just quit on that is making them look absolutely retarded. Granted, he has played vs. some weak competition so his numbers are probably a bit inflated but he’s once again proving to be fully capable behind a team that doesn’t burden him with making 35-40 saves a night. If only the Leafs knew how to forecheck, backcheck and outwork your opponents.
Vegas won’t win the Cup this year but it won’t be because of Marner. He’s done his fair share of heavy lifting and as we’ve seen with McDavid, one guy doesn’t win a Cup by himself. They’ve struggled with goaltending all year long and while Hart has been better of late, he does allow some shitters. It’s hard seeing anybody beating Colorado this year except maybe Carolina as that appears to be the Final in waiting. Both Colorado and Carolina will win because of their insane depth and/or high pressure style of play.
Guess who has now had TWO, count them, TWO good games now these playoffs???!

The sad part about Carolina is why are they still there? They’ve been a consistent playoff team for a very long time. If that team were in Quebec City, it would be rampant and the fanbase would be reactionary like the Leafs and Habs fanbases. Bettman is a dwarf and doesn’t understand the Canadian hockey economics. It will never change. They’d rather be in the land of the Confederacy than in the home of hardcore hockey. He worries about places like Atlanta and Phoenix, where there’s been nothing but red ink. So much wasted equalization payments, when they could have a great fanbase. It’s the biggest travesty in sports.
Carolina is still there because they fill a geographical market the league wants for TV ratings. It’s not a big population, there aren’t big corporate sponsors but it’s still valuable for the NHL to be able to broadcast games in that part of the US because even the worst US state is better than pretty much every Canadian province for GDP. The Canadian dollar is weak. The stadium isn’t that big. The population isn’t that big. The corporate dollars aren’t that big and are fleeing Canada at record rates. With the French supremacy mentality, the players are less likely to want to play there with their ownership, fans and media expecting everybody to speak and do things the Quebec French way.
Bettman doesn’t give a fuck about you. There are 32 owners he cares about because his job is to maximize their profits and more importantly his job is to maximize franchise value. That means relocation doesn’t make him a dime unless the team is seriously underwater like Phoenix and Atlanta were. Expansion makes the league huge dollars in expansion fees and in raising franchise value. Even teams like Carolina, that probably break even every year, make huge money on year over year franchise value increases. It’s like real estate for billionaires. They buy something for 400 million and 8 years later it’s worth 2 billion. If they made 0 dollars in profits for 10 years, it doesn’t matter because they increased the value in the franchise by 1.6 billion. Then, they can use that high value asset to borrow money against and invest it into other projects. Rinse, repeat.
You also have to have Canadian billionaires (Americans don’t own Canadian teams) that want to own franchises in Canada knowing full well their money is better off invested outside of Canada. The Canadian hockey market is already pretty much maxed out. The biggest cities already have teams and the cities that don’t have teams, probably couldn’t sustain it. The average person in Canada can barely survive these days, they won’t be running out to spend huge amounts of money on season tickets and merchandise on a new team. Another team in the GTA would work if not for the Leafs absolutely always vetoing it because they enjoy their monopoly. But teams in Quebec City, Nova Scotia, Regina; those are really hard to make a reality in Canada right now. Maybe if Brookfield Environmental Scammers weren’t running the country, the Canadian dollar and economy could handle another franchise or two, but right now, they’re fucked like the rest of the country.
Fuck Buffalo. Hated them since 1999. The fans are good but fuck that franchise. Nice jerseys though.

Carolina, the team, plays great hockey. Their fans barely exist and even leave the building half empty in double OT of a playoff game. But Brind’Amour runs a great team. They deserve it.
Goal 1 he overplayed the player behind the goal line and left the eventual goal scorer wide open right in front of the net.

Goal #1 was not his fault. Hutton and Korczak are the bottom pair D. They play 12 and 10 minutes per game for a reason. They made a mess of the dump in, Hutton went to the wall as Korczak played a reverse poorly leaving Marner stuck trying to cover between the puck carrier behind the net and an open man in front. Hutton was along the boards instead of in front of the net and Stone was caught between two guys on the backcheck.
Goal 2 coasting on the back check but not all his fault.
Goal #2, he was the furthest player from his own net, forechecking deep into the Anaheim zone. The fact that he even got back into the picture is a miracle. Clearly the fault on the 2nd goal was mostly Rasmus Andersson doing his best impression of Morgan Rielly’s puck watching. Doesn’t cover the man. Doesn’t get the puck. Just going in circles. Again, zero fault on Marner.
Goal 3 Brutal pass into the skates of his teammate that bounces to Harkins for the easy empty netter.
Wrong again retard. The pass was not intended for Karlsson AT ALL. It was intended for Eichel on the opposite side of the ice. Karlsson, having missed most of the season, probably didn’t realize he was supposed to let the puck go between his legs and instead kicked it, creating a turnover and an easy empty net. You can literally see Marner pointing at Eichel as Karlsson kicks the puck as if to tell him “No, that pass was for EICHEL, not for you”.
Very good game 1, absolutely brutal game 2.
Very good Game 1 and not to blame for Game 2. Vegas did not play it’s best game and Anaheim had it’s best defensive effort of the entire season. Coach Q is doing a great job. He ain’t no Berube.

He’s already been very effective, GWG Game 6, point per game, +4, into the 2nd round after year one on a new team, heavily hit by injuries and shit goaltending while Matthews and Nylander are watching the draft lottery, wondering where they’ll be golfing and playing next. Maybe they’ll be joining Marner in Vegas soon.
