ParticipantGive Sullivan an acknowledgment that he is doing better job than the person he replaced for a green NHL coach.
Your hate is blinding you because you did not like who the Leafs choose to replace the PP coach.
Actually, the only time I’ve seen you happy here is when Roy got traded.carry on
He’s not fully doing the job of Savard. He’s doing 33% of the job as the PP is run by committee. His PP in the AHL was bad and the Leafs PP in the NHL isn’t being fully run by him. He gets 33% of the credit on a losing team until he does 100% of the job. Also, in case you haven’t noticed, Matthews has been worthless on the PP, regardless of who the coach has been. He only has 5 PP goals. The PP% going up in a bunch of games they’re losing in a lost season isn’t cause for celebration yet. If the PP takes a guy like Matthews, who should have 15-20 PP goals and turns him into a 5 PP goal scorer, they’re obviously still failing. Knies only has 4 PPG. Nylander only has 6 PPG. Tavares only 8 PPG. It’s not just about the PP%. Their best weapons are floundering. These guys use to have 10-20 PPG each in previous seasons. They took an elite group of offensive weapons, turned them into the worst in the NHL and now celebrating because they’re kind of average?

ParticipantThat Bérubé had to hang his team for there being no immediate response to the Matthews hit is embarrassing. He was clearly disgusted with their response, saying “there should have been four guys on him”. It shows once again how utterly lacking in character this group is. They got shamed into it by Bérubé between periods.
One has to wonder, perhaps Matthews has given up on his team (the goalless streak was ridiculous) and in turn, they’ve given up on him as the leader of this team. A disconnected group of guys that don’t care about each other (and I mean really show action, not just serve platitudes to fans in the media) can’t play well enough together to win anything in the NHL. Berube was just stating the obvious that every hockey fan and definitely every hockey player should already know.
The players on this team ultimately won’t care. Berubue will be fired, probably replaced by somebody like DeBoer and they will recycle the same team with whatever scraps they can find on the UFA market. The results will be the same and the retards will beLeaf “this is the year” again, next year.

ParticipantGuess who said all these dumb things.
Hint the guy went on and on and on about how Sullivan hire was stupid and wont help the PP, but now that the Leafs have a top 6 power play over a period of 3 months Sullivan has nothing to do with it. LOL. Change the argument or shift the goal posts much?
“Lol Steve Sullivan, was Gary Valk busy?”
“Steve Sullivan had 75 career PPG goals in over 1000 NHL games.
William Nylander has 77 career PPG goals in 718 games. Matthews has 107 career PPG. Tavares has 157.
Just let Nylander be the PP coach while he’s on the LTIR.
Steve Sullivan can be Nick Robertson’s personal coach so he can teach him how to survive 1000+ NHL games being a midget.”
“I am going to guess that hiring a guy who has zero NHL coaching experience is probably going to end as poorly as it did last time when they hired a guy with very little NHL experience and even less NHL success.”
“The Leafs are doing what they always do; hire the most mediocre people to do the most important jobs. It’s no wonder they get mediocre results.”
And AGAIN, too retarded to realize that the addition by subtraction (getting rid of Savard) is the real reason for the increase in production (and yet still losing games like crazy). Reality is, 66% of the PP being run by Berube and Lalonde with Steve Sullivan there to go on Tims runs.
Did you know the Marlies PP was operating at a 16% (22nd in the AHL) clip before he was hired? That’s not promoting somebody because of great success. That’s just calling up the next warm body. That’s why he wasn’t given full control of the PP; because he wasn’t qualified to actually run it and improve it. Credit to Berube and Lalonde for simplifying the PP but that’s, once again, eliminating the real source of the problem which was Savard.
Technically, Savard ran the 9th best PP in 2025 but the Leafs had elite talent that was scoring in spite of his stupid PP setup, not because of it which is why when things got tough in the playoffs, their PP looked useless (and failed to adjust) vs. Florida with only one PP goal the entire series. Much like how the Leafs PP is scoring now that the games don’t matter and will miss the playoffs. The “improved” Leafs PP is so powerful that it got a 60+ goal scorer that couldn’t score a PP goal for 10+ games. Not exactly utilizing their best weapon to it’s maximum potential.

ParticipantHoly shit, a not very talented, but, a real leafs team won the game
Obviously the Leafs won the game because Pezzetta dropped the gloves 1 second into the game.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantAnybody see that the Leafs PP is 6th in the NHL since Stevie Sullivan got called up to the coaching staff. That does not even count the 2 goals tonight.
Anybody else too retarded to realize that the Leafs PP has improved because of addition by subtraction and that Steve Sullivan is only 33% of the committee that runs the PP or is it just you?

Participantsolid points, Leafs should draft the player who has scored 100 points in the NHL
Marner is long gone, time to move on from the cry fest. its the pros. shit happens
You brought up Marner trying to compare him to McKenna, not my fault the facts slapped you in the face.
It’s the pros but the Leafs are run by amateurs and the retards (you) loved their decisions. Here they are, last in the division.

Participantone of these players is a small winger the Leafs dont need, the other is a winger they just traded but needed
Height: 6′0″
Weight: 180 lbHeight: 6′0″
Weight: 170 lb*I dont know or care who the Leafs would or should pick with whatever pick they end up with or without*
One of those players is a proven Selke candidate and the other doesn’t play defense. One of those players is a proven 100 point player who elevated Matthews to 60-69 goals multiple times and now that he’s gone, Matthews is down to 26 goals for 13.25 AAV. One of those players makes you look like a retard for wanting him gone.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantAgain, even if the Leafs got McKenna, what problem does that solve for the Leafs? Even if McKenna scored 30 goals above replacement and was on the ice for ZERO goals against, they’d still be one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL and probably not a Cup contender anyway. McKenna is a very good offensive player but his profile just screams Taylor Hall 2.0. Not a terrible player to have but not good enough that the entire team can be saved or built around him.
Ivar Stenberg is interesting, a smallish winger who has never played in North America but he’s putting up numbers in the SHL that’s never been done before for his age other than the Sedins. He has a high hockey IQ, skates well, scores points but his size is always a question mark as the NHL has less time and space than in Sweden and some huge defenders will use their size and reach to box him out. Might be a very good player but not a franchise changer overnight either.
Keaton Verhoeff is much more in the profile of exactly what the Leafs need. 6’4″, 215 lbs (still only 17) RHD who can score goals, points, skates very well and high hockey IQ. If he becomes a two-way force that plays in all situations and big minutes, that’s the type of player that could turn the Leafs around if he maximizes his potential.
If the Leafs ended up with McKenna or Stenberg with the 1st overall pick because he’s “the best player available”, I would still trade Nylander. McKenna plays the same style and you could get a boatload for Nylander. At least two if not three pieces in terms of draft picks, elite prospects and a young roster player. That would give the Leafs more young assets as well as save cap space if you wanted to grossly overpay Matthews to not leave this sinking ship. Then again, when he’s scoring 26 goals for 13.25 AAV, you may as well trade his ass too and just use McKenna as the new centerpiece even though he’s not a center or a very good two-way player.
The next problem is, if the Leafs win the draft lottery this year, they can’t tank again until 2029 because the 2027 and the 2028 drafts would be useless to the Leafs as Boston would get the 2027 pick and the Flyers get the 2028 pick. They’re just fucked.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantI just ran the simulator and the Leafs won ….
I wonder if they would pick McKenna with the 1st over all pick.
Another small, one-way winger?
That’s the sad part is even if the Leafs miracle a 1st overall pick, McKenna is so far away from what this team needs and doesn’t fix the problems they have.
They’ll win all the drunken bar fights after the game though.
