ParticipantKadri to the Avs, holy fuck, they’re FOR SURE my team now.
WHIPPER
ParticipantI’m glad OEL is still here. Solid D at a really good AAV for a few more years. Mini-rebuild inbound.
WHIPPER
ParticipantAs expected, big day for the leafs!
LOL
Minor trades still may trickle in.
But it looks like only McMann and Roy out the door.edit:
Maybe Laughton out the door as well? But havent seen it posted anywhere. Thought he would have been a good 4th line center going forward3rd rounder …. from LA
Becomes a second if they make the playoffs.
WHIPPER
ParticipantThat was wasted on a bunch of pylons and resulted in going from 1st to last. And no better players available as pending UFAs coming either.
So great job! Worked out amazing!
I know you’re severely retarded, so I’ll spell this out for you. We have that cap space next year. And the year after. And the year after that, etc.
I would rather go from first to last and rebuild properly than run the same fucking team back for another 8 years.
Literally, EVERYBODY knew this year was going to be a step back, but no real fan cares about regular season superstars, the playoffs are all that matters.

ParticipantHere’s hoping the selling brings back some useful stuff. I mean I know it will be a late round pick, but at least Marner turned into a 1st.
Marner also turned into a fuck ton of much needed cap space.
WHIPPER
ParticipantSo who’s everyone going to root for in the playoffs? I’m going with The Bolts.
Avs for me.
WHIPPER
ParticipantSounds like they need one OEL Stat!
or Carlo.[/quote]
Yeah, I’d MUCH rather keep OEL, he’s a beast. Carlo doesn’t command near the return that OEL would, though. Tough call.If you’re doing a FULL rebuild, you trade OEL. If you’re trying to do a fast retool, you trade Carlo.
WHIPPER
ParticipantYikes, Parayko declined to waive to go to Buffalo, (can’t blame him). Sucks for Buffalo fans. Might as well grab OEL for slightly more;-)
Why do teams announce trades when it still requires a player to waive?!?!
WHIPPER
ParticipantWell I didnt have Roy has a possible trade target for the leafs to move out, but Tre actually got a 2027 1st rounder and the Avs lowest 5th round pick (2026)
Maybe that means Laughton is staying?I really hope so. I like the idea of having players here that want to play in Toronto and can handle the pressure and media. He’s also likely to take a team friendly contract to stay. McMann may be the same, I read somewhere that he’d get 5×5 on the open market, but would take less than 5 in Toronto.
Is there ever situations where a team trades out a player (like McMann) as a true rental, with some backroom deal to re-sign in the offseason? Obviously, nothing could be officially agreed upon, but I don’t recall this ever happening.

ParticipantTalk about winning the lottery for Roy. Goes from a rudderless ship to the best damn team in the league by a good margin. Likely wins a Cup. Colorado is likely the team I watch this year in place of the Leafs.
Good deal for the Leafs, though.
WHIPPER
ParticipantLeafs get a first and fifth for Roy from Colorado.
Nicely done, Tre, keep going.

ParticipantGoing to the game tomorrow vs Sens, some company taking me there, platinum seats…
sorry to hear that, hope your day gets better
Darn, I replied before I was caught up on the thread:)

Does this company hate you or something?!?
My condolences, hopefully it’s more like a celebration of life vs a funeral.
WHIPPER
ParticipantLiterally, at this point, why not just put Morgan on the fucking wing?!? Worst contract imaginable, and he isn’t going anywhere.
Legit, I move Matthews. He’s probably walking after the media inexplicably turned on him, simply for being a proud American. He’d get a haul. Willy isn’t waiving. JT is not going anywhere. You gotta do something to change the culture on this team.
WHIPPER
ParticipantI don’t think we will see any significant trades.
The fans want team to sell players, but organization wants to sell tickets.
The fans thinking it can’t get worse, but bosses thinking it can go worse and they are not completely wrong.Yup, they’ll shuffle around a few minor pieces and then come up with a plan in the summer. Biggest piece to move may be OEL, but I hope they keep him.
Berube is done. The team quit on him and he quit on the team. Tre likely not far behind him. Get Deboer behind the bench, not sure who is the GM target.
