That is probably Hart’s next move: spending a season in Switzerland or Germany.

The league are nothing but hypocrites.Everybody besides Hart was already playing in Europe. The other four are pretty borderline if not clear non-NHL caliber players. Hart is really the only one who is a clear, solid NHLer. Craig MacTavish and Dany Heatley killed people in booze related car crashes. The guys who can play in the league should get a chance.

I think the NHLPA will force the NHL’s hand in allowing these kids to get back to work. There’s no legal precedent to keep them out of the league.
The NHL clearly doesn’t want any of the players back in the league no matter what. He’s the thing: If the league ties this thing up for half the season — by then, none of the players have played in two years — by the time any of them would be game ready, what team would sign them even if you take PR out of the equation?

To me, Bump earning a spot means standing out in practices/scrimmages, get scoring chances in the preseason and showing he can handle the off-puck stuff (albeit against preseason opposition) while playing at the NHL pace. He struggled against Hershey in the second round of the playoffs. If the preseason is similar, I’d expect him to start the year in Lehigh Valley. If he’s generating scoring chances (I care less about goals themselves right now) and consistently around the puck, I’d expect him on the opening night roster.
There seems to be spots open. All up to him if he sticks.
Do you see any PTO candidates out there they may pursue?
I have zero expectations for bump currently. Let him find his way. You say he must “earn” it and nothing will be handed to him. What does that entail? How much better does he have to be over other players? A little? Head and shoulders. Is playing him on the 4th an option?
Bump – Dvorak – GH? These are your wingers going into camp already on the main roster, I think. To me they have 2 spots open on the wing if you keep ex selke, cates, zegras, dvorak at center.TK – MM

ND- ?One big question I have is the coach going to put the long-term view over the short-term view. I doubt it. Tocchet is used to losing so maybe that won’t bother him so much.
Don’t think zegras is a frost replacement. IMO they have much higher expectations for him (as they should), a top 6 center. Possibly a top 6 wing as you said. Frost was never that. They gave up nothing to take a 1-year look. Just hope if he has an inconsistent year, they don’t rush to extend him.
Dvorak flat out took the cash (no issue with that) as no one offered him that much even on a multi year deal. That was the main driver. Even with 50% retention he may not be that easy to move at the deadline; depends on his play. Flyers also only have 1 slot left. He is a solid player though gets me sick seeing him mentioned like franchise icon laughton. Would anyone be shocked to see laughton back next year as the 4th line center.
Decide with cates. Wing or center. No moving around. I keep at center. Keep that line intact. Obviously depends on the health of forester.
Tippet is not a game breaking talent to me at all. Solid depth player. Still don’t see why they rushed to extend him for 8 years. Not the type who deserves that type of commitment.
From all of the interviews, he seems like a grounded personality who is open to doing the best thing for him. No need to worry about this at all and super excited for him to get to play against better competition in a really good program. I’m sure this is just a pit-stop for him. Also gives us a chance to let Jett get his shot at making the team.
Not seeing how not having martone effects the Jett.
